This study aimed to reflect on provided care for men who commit violence (MCV) in the city of Guarapuava/PR. It is a qualitative approach research, which sought to understand in what way this city has answered the issue of confronting violence against women committed by men, and it focuses on checking if there is appropriated care for such man and what are given routes concerning to Social Assistance organizations in the city of Guarapuava. In order to collect data, one administered a themed interview as a method procedure that was applied to the secretary of Public Policies for Women in Guarapuava, who coordinates Network to Confront Violence Against Women, as well professionals that work with Social Assistance in the network mentioned. This study is divided into three chapters. The first chapter brings main theories related to concept of gender, as well as historically constituted concept of masculinities. Both theory concepts are approached as analysis categories to discuss about violence against women. Second chapter presents main historical milestones on the subject of confronting gender violence, just as its legislative development in Brazil, in quest of identifying men’s place related to confronting policies against gender violence, and it presents a survey of provided care for men involved in situations of violence against women in national context. Third chapter presents collected data from the interview aiming to recognize what MCV – in the city of Guarapuava – understand concerning to the questions presented. One may realize that there is no specific care to them, above all, when we bear in mind two public entities responsible for Social Assistance, among which we cite CRAS and CREAS. Professionals from these networks are concerned that is necessary to start developing it. This demand is suppressed due to some issues which were raised. Finally, this study demonstrates the importance of fostering reflexive work and accountability with MCV, as far as such view promotes practices that deal with machismo and break the cycles of violence and, consequently, it establishes a new culture that does not infringe women’s rights.
