The main objective of this study is to analyze the configuration of the scenarios of social and environmental impacts in rural, urban and rural areas, based on the channel of transposition of the east axis of the São Francisco River in the municipality of Monteiro - PB. In order to carry out the research in function of the objectives, it was necessary to trace methodological paths for both an exploratory and descriptive type of research with an analytical approach of the quantitative-qualitative data. The geographic coverage of the field survey to collect the empirical data was found in the localities of the Tingui, Rigideira (Agrovila Lafayete) and Tamanduá sites, as well as the Várzea, Matadouro, Centro and Alto da Serra neighborhoods, which configure the rural, urban and urban scenarios of the channel of the São Francisco transposition of the municipality. The results found within the geographical clipping show a great environmental impact both in the banks and in the bed of the Paraíba river in relation to the deforestation of the ciliary forest, the spillage of sewage from several neighborhoods, deforestation of the native forest for the construction of the canal, besides the dissatisfaction of residents of the agro fuels Lafayete with regard to compensation for the expropriated lands, at a distance from the grovel and the channel of transposition and the unfeasibility of the use of water for irrigation, including in the center of the city of Monteiro in the channel of the river characterizing , therefore, environmental and social conflicts, respectively. As final considerations, it is pointed out that the São Francisco transposition in its Eastern Axis has been of extreme importance for the water security of the municipality of Monteiro and several municipalities of Western Cariri, besides Campina Grande-PB and eighteen surrounding municipalities. However, it has provoked conflicts that demand a water and environmental management of accountability of the public power, in addition to a greater environmental awareness of the population to use this natural resource essential for human life, which is water, in a sustainable way, guaranteeing consumption human and animal drinking.
