This study proposes to cast a glance at the works O Câncer no Pêssego, A Trapaça da Rosa and A Casa do Ser, which compose the poetic work of Paraíba-born author José Antônio Assunção. The multi-discursiveness prompted by the poetic metaphor comes from the dynamic relations between expression and signification, which brings to the poetic text‟s materiality discursive extracts in which the mimesis points to a recreation of the existential tensions‟ scheme of feelings such as anguish, finiteness, estrangement, incompleteness, and emptiness. Our three-part analysis initially exposes a brief presentation of the author and his work, from the eyes of the specialized critic; then a reflection on the place of mimesis and referentiality in poetic discourse and, at the end of this chapter, the consideration of a Poetics of existence as an interpretative course of the Assunção work. In the second chapter, a retrospective summary punctuates the dialogue between poetry and philosophy, and its repercussion in the late thinking of German philosopher Martin Heidegger, invoked by the explicit reference of his concept of language as the “house of being”, title of the latest Assunção book. The analysis of poems selected from the three aforementioned works is our third and last stage. To exam the mimesis aspects, we reflected upon the contributions of Brazilian theorist Luiz Costa Lima and French hermeneutist Paul Ricoeur; to correlate Poetry and Philosophy, we used Martin Heidegger‟s thoughts, as well as philosopher Benedito Nunes‟; to approach and interpret poetic aspects, we have brought the collaboration of researchers Janilto Andrade and Ana Maria Lisboa de Mello.
