Resumo: This work’s main objective is to formulate a theoretical basis, in order to consider the processes of Reading a literary piece within the following specificities: to execute it by not seeing the written word, in a digital or digitalized book, throughout a synthetized voice elaborated by screen readers software’s that give sound access to the graphic content of those gadgets capable of offer such kind of accessibility, into the context of life experience of people who are visually impaired. Such base will enable future developments, when we consider the various possibilities that result from the relations amongst cultural industry, book, reading, and visual deficiency. Thus, we assumed this kind of reading practice through a methodological basis concerning three perspectives: Peirce’s semiotics, which interprets signification by relating stimulus, perception, and interpretation; Deleuze and Guattari’s (1995) rhizome view of the book as a intermediation with no object or subject, but a literary machine; and the Mediology theories presented by Pierre Lévy (2004), Marshall Macluhan (2005), amongst others. We aimed, at first, to clarify the relationship between the visually impaired person and artistic appreciation, and then to contemplate the descriptive nature of written word, as well as the literary narrative potential, in order to stablish a relation between word, image, and representation. Later, it was convenient to explain the media aspects not only of the technological means used when reading with a screen reader, but also to explore the mediological potential of the verbal language, as well as its role in creating the many possible significations between blind subject and gadget during the act of reading. We contemplated, yet, the reading as a human process that have been through so many levels, from oral, to written, to digital, so that we could understand the reasons why the usual conceptions treat such act as a presumption of the sight, and also to try and define the role the screen readers play in this situation. It appeared to us, then, the term “electronic audioreading”, provisionally, so that we could distinguish better our object. Therefore, we illustrated the concept of electronic audioreading through a practical example, that is, a personal experience of reading reported by this researcher, made in three gadgets that are able to offer accessibility (smartphone, tablet, and personal computer), so that we could illustrate the various particularities of readings managed within such specific conditions, guided by the perspective offered by the Reception Theories (ZILBERMAN, 1989), so that we could build, by the impressions inspired by this experiment, interpretative possibilities that include the tension generated between the motives, the means, and the skills that take place during the electronic audioreading. Submitted by Andressa Lima (andressa@uepb.edu.br) on 2016-08-09T17:48:21Z No. of bitstreams: 1 PDF - Sidney Vicente de Andrade.pdf: 1123979 bytes, checksum: e507e17c47a854a10f169f51f51904bf (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Luciana Medeiros (luciana@uepb.edu.br) on 2016-08-10T13:12:54Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 PDF - Sidney Vicente de Andrade.pdf: 1123979 bytes, checksum: e507e17c47a854a10f169f51f51904bf (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-10T13:12:54Z (GMT).
