Resumo: Introduction: Sepsis is a potentially fatal organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Sepsis and septic shock are major health problems affecting millions of people around the world each year, and killing up to one in four people affected. The late diagnosis and delay in the therapeutic approach of sepsis are contributing factors to mortality. Objective: Development and application of a quick and easy to use protocol in clinical practice to the diagnosis of patients with sepsis, that has as a final effect to reduce mortality in patients. Methodology: This is an experimental cross-sectional, documentary and prospective study, in which a protocol to early diagnosis and prompt management of sepsis was developed. It was performed at the Regional Hospital of the West of Bahia, in the city of Barreiras-BA. Results: With the elaboration of this protocol, as well as the training of the staff, patients with suspected sepsis started to be screened by the staff, allowing the evaluation of the effectiveness of the KMR3 score through the collection of clinical data of the patients. The total mortality of patients who were included in the study with the KMR3 score was 18.98%, resulting in a survival rate of 81.01%. Conclusion: Therefore, it was noted that the decrease in the mortality rate after the implementation of KMR3 protocol occurred due to the rapid and early diagnosis, through a practical, accessible, wide and entirely clinical protocol (without the need for laboratory tests), This way, the correct treatment was used without delay, increasing its effectiveness and generating a considerable reduction in the number of deaths in patients diagnosed with sepsis.

Submitted by Rodrigo José Melo do Espírito Santo (rodrigojmes87@gmail.com) on 2022-12-01T15:24:27Z No. of bitstreams: 2 DS-RODRIGO JOSÉ MELO DO ESPÍRITO SANTO.pdf: 1946241 bytes, checksum: bebc3c36db2a08ce2dca2eec4784fb72 (MD5) Termo de Depósito BDTD - RODRIGO JOSÉ MELO DO ESPÍRITO SANTO.pdf: 173763 bytes, checksum: c0a5ca5573c5058e53e1afa6e10e1173 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Rosalvo Andrade (rosalvo_andrade@servidor.uepb.edu.br) on 2022-12-01T15:51:53Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 DS-RODRIGO JOSÉ MELO DO ESPÍRITO SANTO.pdf: 1946241 bytes, checksum: bebc3c36db2a08ce2dca2eec4784fb72 (MD5) Termo de Depósito BDTD - RODRIGO JOSÉ MELO DO ESPÍRITO SANTO.pdf: 173763 bytes, checksum: c0a5ca5573c5058e53e1afa6e10e1173 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-04-14T23:05:40Z (GMT).
