This entitled dissertation: The social representations of the umbanda between neopentecostals had as identifying main objective analysing the social representations of the Umbanda between members of the hierarchy of the Universal Church of the God's Kingdom. The conflituous relation between neopentecostals and the Afro-Brazilian religions is a reason for academic discussions and it prints the news sections, when the theme of the religious intolerance was lifted. The Theory of the Social Representations allows an approach psicossocial to study the religious phenomenon, especially, of privileging what is socially relevant and what surfaces in the contemporaneousness (SÁ, 2015).The dissertation begins with a bibliographical revision on the neopentecostalism, which is a variation of the known evangelic pentecostalism movement, it presents the historical thing and the development of the Universal Church of the God's Kingdom (IURD), as well as, its way of organization and thought. We board, subsequently, the appearance of the umbanda as religion and we do an ambience on the universe of the religions of African origin in Brazil. Also we speak on the Theory of the Serge Moscovici's Social Representations as well as it was formulated by Serge Moscovici (1961/1976) and who was used like main theoretical referential system in this dissertation. We adopted as methodological proposal a qualitative approach, inter-connecting the model etnografic with interviews semistructured with thematic itinerary, which were categorized properly on basis of the analysis of content established by Bardin (1997). We interviewed 25 people, older than 18 years, shepherds, workers and workers of the Universal Church of the God's Kingdom (IURD); We carry out 10 systematic observations in meetings of release in IURD. They are considered for IURD as redefinition of theological elements originating from the religions of African origin and his effects of conflict, tension and spiritual warfare. The theory of the social representations establishes that between thought and ways of life there is no hiatus allowing, from this inquiry, the understanding of the religious practices of intolerance and violence existent in the Brazilian society
