To investigate how clinical medicine can be, simultaneously, a professional practice and a practice of care such are the theme and objective that set in motion the following study. Valuing both empirical experience and reflexive reconstruction, this essay relies on the conception of medical labor as productive of care to propose a conceptual itinerary through the insides of its practice: its laboring character and the tension between reason, technique and creativity; the relationship between doctor and patient and the implications of affection and desire in the clinical device; the other as the one who gives the meaning and actualizes the care in production. In elucidating the foreclosured aspects of contemporary clinical medicine in order to rescue its human strength and clarify the limits of its practice beyond the rigorous neutrality imposed by its scientific narrative, the analysis and discussion allow us to conclude that making way for a caring medicine is conditional to a new form of clinical trial one capable of uniting the courage and the freedom necessary in the real experience of the practice (including, but not limited to the technique) to the orientation towards the other, in one s singularity and multiple possibilities of being.
