Resumo: | Helminthiases of veterinary interest, caused by nematodes, present significant economic impacts associated to the reduction of livestock production, costs with prophylactic and curative treatment and, in extreme cases, can lead to the death of the animal. In Brazil, there are 215.9 million head of cattle, concentrated in greater numbers in the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Pará, respectively. In cattle, parasitic otitis caused by nematodes is triggered by Metharabditis spp. and mainly affects cattle of the Breed Gir. Otitis can also be triggered by bacteria, but there are few works mapping the emergence of these bacteria throughout the infection, which are the bacterial groups, which relate these microorganisms establish with the presence of nematodes and what are the pathophysiological consequences of this interaction. Although there are reports of nematodes and bacteria parasitizing and colonizing the auditory canal of cattle and developing clinical signs of parasitic and bacterial otitis, little is known about the possible specific relationship between the nematodes described previously associated with otitis and isolated bacterial groups of the canal and associated with other infections in cattle. The main objective of this work was to identify the nematode and bacterial species present in the ear of Gir cattle from farms located in states of three different regions of Brazil (Southeast, Center West and North), to relate the presence of nematodes with the incidence of Gram positive, Gram negative and mycoplasma bacteria. The samples were collected in three farms located in the Southeast, Center-West and North regions. On each farm ten animals were randomly selected and the samples were analyzed by light microscopy (ML), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and biology. The bacteria were collected and cultured for identification by MALDI-TOF. The identification of the mycoplasmas was done by culture method and molecular analyzes. The nematodes were identified as Metarhabditis costai and M. freitasi. Gram-Negative bacteria of veterinary relevance have been identified. Gram-Negative bacteria of veterinary relevance have been identified, such as Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens and Citrobacter koseri, besides the species Mycoplasma agalactaie and Mycoplasma bovirhinis. Bacterial diversity may influence morphological parameters and parasite load of these nematodes. In addition, we detected bacterial colonies adhered to the cuticle of the nematodes, suggesting the formation of biofilms and the performance of the parasites as carriers. |

Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-07T15:13:31Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Makoto Enoki Caracciolo Tese completa.pdf: 3335004 bytes, checksum: 007a2930239d5f487538c7268a92f8b9 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-07T15:13:31Z (GMT).
