Resumo: This study discusses the ideas of canon, tradition, history and discourse. It analyses the ideas of reader and author and the fictional agreement approached by Umberto Eco. It reflects on the possibility of religions, through their respective discourses, especially when they are validated by fictional texts, being used as argument sources for human violence, such as the process of African people enslavement in Brazil. By analysing The Gospel According to Jesus Christ, aims to draw the main character's profiles, observe the presence of texts considered canonical by most Christians and reflect on literature as a space for rereading and rewriting the traditional Christian discourse. After reflecting on ideas of human and tragic, it also analyses the idea of guilt, a central theme in Saramago's novel, associating it with the idea of sin, presented by the Christian religion. In this sense, it compares the original's men sin in the literary discourse of the Christian tradition and the "original guilt of God" in the literary discourse of The Gospel According to Jesus Christ. Finally, from the meaning of the word gospel, it evaluates what would probably be the good news that the Saramaguian evangelist proposes to present

Analisa as ideias de leitor, autor e acordo ficcional à luz do pensamento de Umberto Eco. Reflete sobre a possibilidade de as religiões, por intermédio dos seus respectivos discursos, sobretudo quando validados por textos ficcionais, serem utilizadas como fontes de argumento para a violência humana, a exemplo do processo de escravização dos povos africanos no Brasil. Ao analisar O Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo, buscando traçar os perfis das suas principais personagens, observa nele a presença dos textos considerados como canônicos pela maior parte dos cristãos e reflete sobre a literatura como espaço de releitura e reescrita do discurso cristão tradicional. Após refletir sobre o humano e o trágico, analisa a ideia da culpa, tema central no romance de Saramago, associando-a à ideia de pecado, apresentada pela religião cristã. Nesse sentido, compara o pecado original do homem no discurso literário da tradição cristã e a "culpa original de Deus" no discurso literário de O Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo.
