The present work results from a research on the Living Museum of São Bento and seeks to highlight the articulations between historiographic challenges and educational interests in the origin of the museum. Created from a museological conception based on the principles of New Museology, which values the territory, heritage and community, this ecomuseum is considered the first course museum of the Baixada Fluminense and presents great potential for the work with heritage education and History teaching, since its courses are permeated by different temporalities and its heritage allow us to tell the history of the human occupation of the territory from before Cabral's arrival in Brazil to the social transformations of the Baixada Fluminense in the 21st century. The singularity of the museum lies in the fact that it was instituted within the Municipal Education Department of Duque de Caxias / RJ, based on the demand of Education Professionals and cultural activists from the Caxias region concerned with the preservation of the cultural heritage of the municipality and the Baixada Fluminense. In this research, the concern and investment of the museum in the ongoing formation of teachers about local history is highlighted. As a result of the research, it is proposed an ongoing teacher training activity, with a formative proposal and its materials in the workshop format, aimed at student from 6th to 9th of the elementary School, focusing on one of the most visited heritage sites in the Museum: the São Bento sambaqui.
