This investigation of the analysis carried out under the Center for Extension and Research in Social Work (NEEPSS), which develops two research projects / extension: The Practice of Health Professionals in the City of Rio de Janeiro: University Hospitals (UH's) and A practice of social work. Daily and Democratic Practices. Through the reality of data collected under the NEEPSS, as well as the analyzes, we realized that the investigation of the scientific production of the Brazilian Social Service is of vital importance to enhance our analyzes, considering that this is one of the instruments which enables the construction strategies that break with conservatism and strengthen practices mediated by the Political Ethics Project of the Brazilian Social Service. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the Doctoral Theses set published by CAPES site between the years 2010 to 2014, especially those that promote a link with social work, as well as establish a comparative analysis with such studies the NEEPSS has developed over the years regarding the production of knowledge in Social Work, in which, these analyzes has been advocating, in the context of the productions in Social Work, which has prioritized is an analytical approach to the detriment of an approach also purposeful in relation to the study of all the social relations which the social worker is an integral part, to confronting social issues and their different expressions, as well as revealing a weak or no articulation of this production with the social Service and the Professional Project. Therefore, we use as a database of Doctoral Theses published and publicized by the CAPES website along with the syllabus of each Graduate Program in Social Service, linked to NEEPSS studies. This work is divided into three chapters. At first, we conducted a rescue on the meaning and positioning that knowledge has on society; in the second we conducted a historical review of the emergence of social work and the construction and consolidation of the Political Ethics Project of the Brazilian Social Work, highlighting the importance of scientific research for the consolidation practices towards the professional design, performing also a historical review of 16 PPG's enrolled in the field of knowledge in Social Work by CAPES; in the third chapter, we describe all the methodological process of collecting and analyzing data, analyzing the productions that have some connection with the Social Service. The historical moment that currently the working class lives, reveals a brutal increase in precarious conditions of life and work, departing more and more access to education, culture, health, work, etc. Thus, the social workers, who work directly in service to this class, need to take ownership of research that allow not only social workers but to all professionals who wish to strengthen the interests of the working class, the formulation of concrete proposals to tackle the expressions of the social question, aimed at materializing the Professional Project.
