The objective of this thesis is to demonstrate that, despite all the obstacles imposed by women in the course of humanity history and all the strategies of their performance as subjects, women have always fought for their dignity and equal rights. It is true that in the West, women have achieved many achievements and achievements - from the right to vote to a degree of social autonomy. However, despite these relative advances, the female gender continues to suffer from discrimination, gender violence and other forms of social and political oppression. Thus, in an effort to understand the political role and social trajectory of women in the West and in Westernized countries, the present study aims to investigate what happened to them during the long historical process until the arrival of the modern age. It was a fact that required a thorough examination of the feminine question in the West, as well as the manifestations of their struggles and resistance. Whether through the political and associative movements organized around the feminist ideology; whether within the African cultural heritage transmuted into a code of survival to the horrors of slavery. In addition to the literature on the subject and the option for authors who have embraced the cause of their counterparts, in order to restore a fairly faithful map of this history of struggles and to return speech to its main antagonists, we turn to women's life histories and interviews with various active female figures. Finally, in order to better understand the reality of women in Brazil today, we dedicate a good part of our research to the direct observation and monitoring of the daily life and activities of the Girls and Women of Morro Association in the Mangueira community in Rio de Janeiro.
