The literature represents an important role on the formation of new subjectivities, and this research investigated the speeches about the feminine present in three novels of the nineteenth century - Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, by the novelist Jane Austen, one of the most acclaimed writers in England. Using the female characters of these novels and how they place themselves on affective and social relations, we sought to establish a parallel between literature and women's history. Jane Austen is considered very important for the consolidation of the English Novel, and inserts in her novels the question of gender as a category historically produced, and is itself also an example of deconstruction of female roles, therefor became a writer in a time that this wasn´t a space that women should occupy. However, many times, both the discussion about the feminine and the representativity of the novelist for the English´s women are neglected due to a superficial reading of her novels. This study intended to dialogue with the women´s history, enriching this field of study, bringing new data and ways of thinking the relations of women in society through literature, and also aimed to give more prominence to Jane Austen in this field. It was not intended to make a literary analysis of the novels, but an analysis of the discourses behind the female roles in the novels as possible mirror of the social vision of femininity, taking into account the socio-historical context in which they were written
