Resumo: | The present work develops a descriptive and bibliographic research, where books, articles, dissertations and documents were analyzed in order to describe the history of logarithms, contextualizing their discovery and transforming into what is meant by logarithm today. As well as, understanding how logarithms were present in Brazilian school culture, to verify the importance of interdisciplinarity, contextualization, new technologies and history in the process of teaching and learning mathematics. In order to know in fact how logarithms are being approached in the classroom, five textbooks were analyzed, all approved by the National Program of Books and Didactic Material (PNLD) and adopted by high schools in Brazil. Based on this analysis, following the same reasoning found in the books and how logarithms are studied by students, this work describes the definitions, consequences, properties, logarithmic function, its inverse and the relationship between them. This research presents the geometric conception of logarithms, which although not addressed in high school textbooks, is defended by many authors for its simplicity and connection with higherlevel contents, such as Integral Calculus. This work brings a teaching and learning proposal about logarithms that can be used by high school mathematics teachers in their classes, in order to enrich them and give more meaning to such study. It is divided into five activities, which in a dynamic way, will be worked history, interdisciplinarity and contextualization, new technologies, using calculator and computer with software, and geometric conception of logarithms |

Bem como, entender como os logaritmos estiveram presentes na cultura escolar brasileira, constatar a importância da interdisciplinaridade, da contextualização, das novas tecnologias e da história no processo de ensino e aprendizagem da matemática. A fim de saber de fato como estão sendo abordados os logaritmos em sala de aula, foram analisados cinco livros didáticos, todos aprovados pela Programa Nacional do Livro e do Material Didáticos (PNLD) e adotados por escolas do ensino médio no Brasil. Com base nesta análise, seguindo o mesmo raciocínio encontrado nos livros e como os logaritmos são estudados por alunos, este trabalho descreve as definições, consequências, propriedades, a função logarítmica, sua inversa e a relação existente entre elas. A presente pesquisa apresenta a concepção geométrica dos logaritmos, que embora não abordada em livros didáticos do ensino médio, é defendida por muitos autores por sua simplicidade e ligação com conteúdos de nível superior, como o Cálculo Integral. Este trabalho traz uma proposta de ensino e aprendizagem sobre os logaritmos que poderá ser utilizada por professores de matemática do ensino médio em suas aulas, a fim de enriquecelas e dar mais significado a tal estudo.
