Cidade pós-Olímpica: o Carnaval Pirata e as reformas do Centro do Rio de Janeiro

Resumo: | During the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Cycle, different musical and carnival groups occupied downtown streets in an activist ways. While constructions changed landscapes and increased rents: unofficial street parties and free parties erupted in front of the city that was transformed. We are investigating here the appropriations of this movement in the early years of Boulevard Olímpico and its surrounding areas. Invading that exact area of downtown by the sea, this manifestations share space with tourist, sailors, ancestral groups and famous brands. Being outside of the traditional port’s manifestations and the idealized project of the Olympic City, those pirate festivities began to perform, in that area, secrets attacks, usually by night and in a non-stop walking around way. Performing in a bohemian and coastal Rio de Janeiro, they draw crowds to the territory in a different aesthetic from the initially projected by the Olympic Project. From a drift along Boulervard, Praça XV, Praça Marechal Âncora and surrounding areas, I seek to understand the new characters, conflicts and purpose of these groups that show another lifestyle in a city center that was transformed. The work develops from the concepts of imaginary, consumption and performance, also understand visuality e corpography as investigative methods. |

Enquanto obras alteravam paisagens e encareciam aluguéis: blocos não oficiais e festas gratuitas eclodiam diante da cidade transformada. Investiga-se aqui, as apropriações desse mesmo movimento nos primeiros anos do Boulevard Olímpico e de suas áreas vizinhas. Invadindo exatamente aquela região do Centro à beira-mar, essas manifestações dividem espaço com turistas, marinheiros, grupos ancestrais e grandes marcas. Alheias tanto ao porto das manifestações tradicionais, quanto ao projeto idealizado da Cidade Olímpica, tais festividades Piratas passaram realizar ataques secretos, normalmente noturnos e ambulantes por ali. Atuando num Rio de Janeiro boêmio e litorâneo, atraem multidões ao território numa estética diferente da projetada inicialmente pelo Projeto Olímpico. A partir de uma deriva pelo Boulevard, Praça XV, Praça Marechal Âncora e áreas vizinhas, busco compreender os novos personagens, conflitos e propósitos desses grupos que aplicam outras práticas de vida a um Centro da cidade transformado.
