A prática educativa como expressão da prática profissional no contexto da equipe de saúde da família no município do Rio de Janeiro

The main focus of this survey are the educational practices in health developed in the Family Health Program (PSF), in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The overall aim is understanding of the educational practices carried out by professionals working in the PSF. The interest is due to the fact of recognizing the PSF as a privileged space in development of educational practices aiming the popular awareness, for their characteristics of action in defined area, and in the logic of health surveillance. The importance of Health Education as an intervention strategy for a healthier society is emphasized. It is a descriptive qualitative study, conducted between 2007 and 2008. Data analysis was guided by the method of Content Analyses. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview, with five teams of family health, totalizing twenty professionals. The analysis identified four categories: organization of the work process, the role of the professional in the staff, organization of educational practice and organization of the educational practice and factors that influence the implementation of educational practices. The analysis verified professionals find difficulties in planning educational practices, related mainly the lack of pedagogical training and the difficulties in organizing the work process, focusing on the biomedical model. The community workers stand out in the performance of activities, with the support of a team, especially the nurse. The topics are chosen primary from the identification of health needs of users by professionals. It is verified that there is difficulty in defining objectives of educational practices. The format of groups prevails focusing on health promotion, and focusing on prevention. It is also verified the presence of practices with other forms of relationships between professionals and users in an exercise of citizenship for the quality of life. Evaluation is done informally among professionals and, generally, takes into consideration the number of user members, or the verification of a change in the user s behavior. The factors that interfere concern the relations among professionals and among them and the users. The violence associated with drug trafficking comes as a factor which affects the action in the area. The training in educational practice is also mentioned. It is verified that the organization form of the work process strongly influences since the implementation of educational practices depends directly on the movement given to the work, and on the space allocated for this activity in the division of labor. Issues related to infrastructure are reported, especially with regard to the scarcity of material, financial resources and inadequate physical space. It is felt that the lack of systematization of educational practice seems to compromise the necessary changes for improvements and the lack of understanding of the professionals about the importance of the educational process for health and as an instrument of social and political transformation. We can also notice the need of investment in the qualification of professionals from PSF, not only related to educational practices, but also the possibility of making the necessary changes for the reorientation of health care model proposed by PSF.
