Resumo: The design of the Brazilian social welfare policy is rather focusing on social work with families through the implementation of specific services of family support, the development of working methods and publications on the subject. This research aims to problematize the family follow-up work offered to families in Specialized Reference Centers of Social Assistance (CREAS), focusing on the use of medical records SUAS seeking to find out to what extent this technical instrument favors the qualification of the actions in the social welfare scope and points to an expansion of the possibilities of social protection of the groups served. From a qualitative study, which involved field observation, reading records and semi-structured interviews with CREAS Padre Guilherme Decaminada s top-level professionals, located in the West Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, we sought to understand how the family support is being offered and what contributions / limits the social welfare development context has put to work. Through a local experience, we seek to identify whether and how the Handbook SUAS contributes to the production of information on families and their living conditions, as well as for the construction and evaluation of answers to their social protection needs, establishing new practices and social protection strategy and guarantee of rights.

A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo problematizar o trabalho de acompanhamento familiar ofertado às famílias nos Centros de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS), com foco na utilização do Prontuário SUAS, buscando pensar em que medida esse instrumento técnico favorece a qualificação das ações no âmbito da assistência social e aponta para uma ampliação das possibilidades de proteção social dos grupos atendidos. A partir de uma pesquisa qualitativa, que envolveu observação de campo, leitura de prontuários e entrevistas semiestruturadas com profissionais de nível superior do CREAS Padre Guilherme Decaminada, localizado na Zona Oeste do município do Rio de Janeiro, RJ, buscou-se compreender como o acompanhamento familiar vem sendo ofertado e quais contribuições/limites o contexto de desenvolvimento da assistência social vem colocando ao trabalho.
