This dissertation presents a narrative about the Social Psychology Department of Federal University of Minas Gerais. The goal is to rescue the constitution of the teaching of Social Psychology at this University and its development in theory and practice. This study will focus on the period of 1964, since the beginning of the group until the year 1992, when it approved the Masters in Psychology at UFMG. In this time several members of the group moved to other departments or universities. Thus, this moment can be understand with the final moment of the group. This work aims to apply the methodology of historiography, by document analysis and interviews, in order to understand the conditions of emergence of the group, the development of their theoretical and practical activities, its route and the reasons for that this group did not stay.
