The goal of the present study is to introduce the Mathematical Modelling as an alternative pedagogic tool, aiming a significant learning in a group of the 6th grade elementary school of the Escola Municipal Araújo Porto Alegre, located in the metropolitan area of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The study presents a historical setting of Mathematical Modelling and its connection with the methodology of Problems Solutions, emphasizing the use of modelling in classroom. The work also reports the Mathematical Modelling definition with its stages, and the importance of using this pedagogical tool in the teaching / learning process. Besides that, this study serves as support material for other teachers of the discipline who wish to use this tool in their classes, once it presents several activities. The mathematical knowledge approached in this study was developed from the Olympics 2016 theme, labouring the information treatment block (graphs and tables) as main content of the study. The Mathematical Modelling application was developed by seven activities, all of them realized during 2016. This paper presents a more detailed approach of activities, arguing the result of each question using the methodology of errors analysis in those that presented a low index of hits, as a form of investigation. Besides that questions analysis, a general analysis of the results was also presented, emphasizing the exploitation percentages, and also a survey of the questions left blank. The IRAMUTEQ software was used with the purpose of analysing the essays written by the students in two activities, highlighting the words that appeared most frequently. Thereby, it was concluded that Mathematical Modelling as an alternative methodology reached a good index of exploitation in the results and, the most important goal, served as a motivating tool, attracting students attention in the accomplishment of activities, also giving a greater meaning in mathematical learning
