This study s goal is to examine the Education conceptions in Health that guide doctors' professional action inserted in the basic teams of the Medical Program of Family of Niterói (PMF). The Education in Health is, traditionally, an activity linked to the field of the Primary Attention call in Health and constitutes one of the angular stones of PMF. However, the Education in different floodgate Health conceptions, built historically along the trajectory of the health policy in Brazil. In this sense, analyze the conceptions that guide professionals' actions becomes a necessary condition to explain the dynamics of operation of the activities developed in the scope of the program of Niterói. The study was accomplished based in a systematic revision of the national literature about Education in Health and relied on interviews semi-structured with a sample of doctors from the program. The collected information was submitted to the Content Analysis, considering the following dimensions: Education conceptions in Health; Education in Health and PMF; Training for education in health; Impacts of the education s actions in health in terms of the population s health. The results pointed that: the idea of education in health in general is very diffuse, the gap in the professionals' medical formation, insufficient training for qualification and secondariness of the Education actions in Health.
