Resumo: This work consists of the study on the possibility of peaceful coexistence between agribusiness and family agriculture, outlining a relationship of complementarity in the context of Brazilian agrarian development. The paper analyzes the Brazilian land structure, through a historical analysis of its institution. There is discussion about the concepts of latifundio, minifundio and agroindustrial complex without forgetting the current classification between large, medium and small rural property. The paradigms of the Brazilian agrarian question and of agrarian capitalism are discussed, under an economic, social, environmental, but mainly legal approach, observing the points of divergence and convergence between agribusiness and family agriculture. The intervention of the Brazilian legislation in the maintenance of the land structure, and the complementarity of the family agriculture and the agribusiness, is evaluated. The analysis of the legislation as an incentive and maintainer of the Brazilian agrarian land structure and its consequences serves as a panorama for the analysis of the way of production and maintenance of the man in the field, analyzing the participation of agribusiness and family agriculture for Brazilian agrarian development, and whether this development is occurring in a coherent, complementary or submissive way between the forms of production. The work will be based on historical-dialectical materialism, seeking the causes of Brazilian agrarian development, its changes in society, and what elements could lead to deviations and different positions.

O trabalho analisa a estrutura fundiária brasileira, por meio de análise histórica sobre sua instituição. Faz-se discussão sobre os conceitos de latifúndio, minifúndio e complexo agroindustrial sem olvidar da atual classificação entre grande, média e pequena propriedade rural. Discutem-se os paradigmas da questão agrária brasileira e do capitalismo agrário, sob um enfoque econômico, social, ambiental, mas, principalmente, legal, observando-se os pontos de divergência e convergência entre o agronegócio e a agricultura familiar. Avalia-se a intervenção da legislação brasileira na manutenção da estrutura fundiária, e a complementaridade da agricultura familiar e o agronegócio. A análise da legislação como incentivadora e mantenedora da estrutura latifundiária agrária brasileira e suas consequências serve como panorama para a análise da forma de produção e da manutenção do homem no campo, sendo analisada a participação do agronegócio e a agricultura familiar para o desenvolvimento agrário brasileiro, e se esse desenvolvimento está ocorrendo de forma coerente, complementar ou submissa entre as formas de produção.
