Resumo: The aim of this dissertation is to discuss the visual construction of the social through the artistic practices of Konstantin Christoff (1923-2011), as a postmodern artist, that created by the serie Via Sacra. It is an strategy to operate in his art, a vision about meaningful cultural expression in the city of Montes Claros. The Via Crucis of Christoff is a singular work and stands out from the others both in quantity and content of the paintings. Through this study, we will try to expand our analysis and reflections, because the upgrade of his Via Sacra reveals us the reading that the artist has of the world around him, by the mobilization and transformation of the senses. In the first chapter, we will approach relevant questions about the subject “Via Sacra”, in order to investigate how some senses were operated, updated and transformed through the representation of the Path of Christ’s Passion, by a completely new and singular Via Sacra, where the artist theatricalizes the history of humanity. In the second chapter, we’ll seek to understand how Konstantin Christoff appropriated, hybridized and transformed the senses, through the metaphorical appropriation of consecrated paintings, as “The Parable of the Blind” by Pieter Brueguel, and the use of characters such as the blindfolded soldier, to operate, mobilize and transform the meanings, revealing the spiritual blindness and the power relations in today’s society. In the third chapter, we think about the society seen through the Via Sacra of Christoff, and how the artist made a severe critique of pastoral, military and media power, as quell as the socioeconomic power relations and issues of class, even that the artist had involuntarily sustained himself on the sacred scriptures.

A "Via Crucis" de Christoff é uma obra singular e se destaca das demais tanto em quantidade como em conteúdo das pinturas. Por meio deste estudo, buscaremos expandir nossas análises e reflexões, pois a atualização dessa série pictórica nos revela a leitura que o artista faz do mundo a sua volta, mediante a mobilização e transformação dos sentidos. No primeiro capítulo, abordaremos questões relevantes a respeito do tema “Via Sacra”, a fim de investigarmos como alguns sentidos foram operados, atualizados e transformados pelo viés da representação do Caminho da Paixão de Cristo, através de uma Via Sacra completamente nova e singular, na qual o artista teatraliza a história da humanidade. No segundo capítulo, buscaremos compreender como Konstantin Christoff se apropriou, hibridizou e transformou os sentidos, através da apropriação metafórica de pinturas consagradas, tal qual a “A Parábola dos Cegos” de Pieter Brueghel, além da utilização de personagens, como o soldado vendado, para operar, mobilizar e transformar os significados, revelando a cegueira espiritual e as relações de poder na sociedade hodierna. In the first chapter, we will approach relevant questions about the subject “Via Sacra”, in order to investigate how some senses were operated, updated and transformed through the representation of the Path of Christ’s Passion, by a completely new and singular Via Sacra, where the artist theatricalizes the history of humanity. In the second chapter, we’ll seek to understand how Konstantin Christoff appropriated, hybridized and transformed the senses, through the metaphorical appropriation of consecrated paintings, as “The Parable of the Blind” by Pieter Brueguel, and the use of characters such as the blindfolded soldier, to operate, mobilize and transform the meanings, revealing the spiritual blindness and the power relations in today’s society. In the third chapter, we think about the society seen through the Via Sacra of Christoff, and how the artist made a severe critique of pastoral, military and media power, as quell as the socioeconomic power relations and issues of class, even that the artist had involuntarily sustained himself on the sacred scriptures.
