This dissertation aims to understand the elements that are present in the constitution and in the contemporary dynamics of the Angolan labor market. For this purpose, it is used, methodologically, the historical-structural analysis according to which it is important to think about the process of formation of structures and, simultaneously, to discover the laws of transformation of these structures. These structures are determined relations which occur amongst men, therefore, are subject to change, as, in the social struggle (political, economic, cultural), new alternatives open to the historical practice. Thus, the object of analysis is not reified in actors, but is dynamized in sets of social relations. The techniques carried out were the reading of books, reports, monographs, dissertations, theses, and the 2014 Population and Housing Census. The greatest exponent of the colonial labor regulation was the document known as the Indigenous Statute, the civil war that destroyed part of the productive apparatus and the strengthening of the oil sector are the main elements which shape the contemporary dynamics of the Angolan labor market, and the consolidation of the oil sector as a driver of the economy has turned the Angolan state into the employer and concentrator of most formal jobs, throwing most of the workforce into informal activities, that is to say, informality has become a way of survival strategy accentuating the serious socioeconomic asymmetries with high levels of income concentration and high unemployment rates.
