Introduction: Coping is an unorthodox tool to deal with stressful situations arising from the treatment of an illness. This study aims to understand the relationship between religious/spiritual coping (CRE) and the quality of life of caregivers of children hospitalized with cancer. Methods: This is an exploratory cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, with companions of children hospitalized with cancer in a philanthropic hospital in the city of São Luís- Maranhão. Data collection was carried out from August 2020 to July 2022. 80 caregivers of children with cancer in this period of time were invited to participate in the research. Data collection consisted of applying the socio-demographic-clinical questionnaire, the Religious-Spiritual Coping scale- CREbreve and the abbreviated instrument for assessing quality of life- WHOQOL-bref. Results: The average score of positive religious-spiritual coping (CREP) of companions was 3.17 with a standard deviation of 0.44. All participants had higher scores for positive religious-spiritual coping compared to negative religious-spiritual coping. There was a positive and significant correlation between religious-spiritual coping factors and quality of life domains. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a significant positive correlation of medium intensity between religious- spiritual coping and the quality of life of caregivers of children diagnosed with cancer. Companions with good quality of life showed less use of negative religious-spiritual coping.
