The deficits caused by stroke causes severe changes in everyday life, when, almost always, the subject involved need assistance in the field of rehabilitation, which is found mainly in secondary care. The objective of this study is to analyze the impairment in quality of life of people with stroke sequelae in accordance with the severity of the sequel. This is a longitudinal study, composed of 33 individuals of both sexes affected by stroke and admitted to a public hospital in João Pessoa / PB. Data collection was conducted through household interviews in 21, 90 and 180 days after hospital discharge. The degree of post-stroke functional impairment was assessed using the modified Rankin scale, and quality of life, by the scale of specific quality of life for stroke (EQVE-AVE). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The mean age of the subjects was 59.76 years. Ischemic stroke was the predominant (72.7%). The areas of EQVE-stroke that had lower scores were: energy, social roles, family roles and personality. The post-stroke functional impairment, according to the modified Rankin scale, affected 81.8% of patients, and of these, 60.7% had moderate to severe disabilities. The EQVE-stroke scale, the first evaluation was associated with functional impairment and the existence of a caregiver. The second assessment, the EQVE-stroke scale showed that it was associated with age and the presence of a caregiver. The use of cluster analysis (CA) analysis allowed us to observe perception changes as the fields of EQVE-stroke the third time (T2). These changes grouped fields by similarities according to the average quality of life scores. The study provided information of individuals with stroke on the quality of your life and the relationship of this variable with some clinical features. The stroke affects different dimensions of QOL, you can change family relations and restrict the social participation of affected people by limiting the affected individuals to enjoy the activities that normally develop.
