Nanopartículas plasmônicas para óptica não linear e laser aleatório. 2021. Tese (Doutorado em Ciência de Materiais) – Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Recife, 2021.https://repositorio.ufpe.br/handle/123456789/40088REYNA OCAS, Albert Stevens também é conhecido em citações bibliográficas por: OCAS, Albert Stevens Reyna e REYNA, Albert StevensCom o avanço da nanotecnologia, o interesse pela fabricação de novos materiais, em escala nanométrica, tem recebido grande atenção devido a possibilidade de gerenciar suas propriedades químicas e físicas por modificar sua morfologia, composição e tamanho. Especialmente na óptica e fotônica, nanopartículas (NPs) de composição metálica são amplamente exploradas pelas suas respostas ópticas intensas, com importantes aplicações na fabricação de diversos dispositivos fotônicos. O bom comportamento óptico das NPs metálicas está associado à oscilação coletiva dos elétrons livres de condução na superfície do metal quando estas interagem com campos eletromagnéticos. Este fenômeno, conhecido como plásmon de superfície localizado (LSP), é o motivo pelo qual as NPs metálicas são comumente chamadas de NPs plasmônicas. Neste trabalho, NPs plasmônicas com diferentes morfologias, tais como: nanoesferas, nanobastões, nanofios e nanocascas, com tamanhos controlados foram fabricadas, em suspensões coloidais, a partir de diferentes métodos de síntese química. Diversas caracterizações das propriedades morfológicas, estruturais, composicionais, e ópticas foram realizadas para garantir o adequado controle na geometria, composição e dimensões das NPs plasmônicas, bem como para entender seus mecanismos de nucleação, crescimento e estabilidade. Para avaliar a importância das NPs plasmônicas em óptica não linear (NL), foram realizadas medidas de caracterização dos efeitos de absorção e refração NL, usando a técnica de varredura Z em nanobastões de ouro com diferentes razões de aspecto. Essa experiência mostrou a possibilidade de controlar o comportamento de absorção NL das NPs plasmônicas a partir da competição entre os efeitos de absorção saturada e absorção saturada reversa. Além disso, foi possível evidenciar que não linearidades de quinta ordem contribuem significativamente para o comportamento de refração e espalhamento NL de nanocompósitos plasmônicos. Experimentos em lasers aleatórios (RLs) demonstram que as NPs que apresentam espalhamento NL de quinta ordem mais intenso, também apresentam o menor limiar para excitar o fenômeno de RL. Finalmente, uma nova metodologia baseada na combinação de feixes de luz desordenados excitando meios contendo nano ou micropartículas plasmônicas espalhadoras tem sido explorada para otimizar a performance de RLs. Os resultados demonstram que ao adicionar um grau de aleatoriedade na luz que bombeia o RL, fatores de otimização em mais de 20 vezes podem ser obtidos para a intensidade de emissão e limiar dos RLs. Os experimentos desenvolvidos nesta tese demonstram a importância do gerenciamento das propriedades ópticas de NPs plasmônicas, através do controle da sua morfologia e tamanho, em estudos e aplicações de óptica NL e RL.FACEPEWith advance of nanotechnology, the interest in the fabrication of new nanomaterials has received great attention due to the possibility of managing their chemical and physical properties by modifying the morphology, composition and size of nanoparticles (NPs). Especially in optics and photonics, metal NPs are widely explored for their intense optical responses, with important applications in the fabrication of various photonic devices. The excellent optical behavior of metal NPs is associated with the collective oscillation of free conducting electrons, on the metal surface, when they interact with electromagnetic fields. This phenomenon, known as localized surface plasmon (LSP), is the reason why metal NPs are commonly referred to as plasmonic NPs. In this work, plasmonic NPs with different morphologies were fabricated,such as: nanospheres, nanorods, nanowires and nanoshells, with controlled sizes, in colloidal suspensions, from different methods of chemical synthesis. Various characterizations of the morphological, structural, compositional and optical properties were carried out to ensure adequate control over the geometry, composition and dimensions of plasmonic NPs, as well as to understand their nucleation, growth and stability mechanisms. In order to evaluate the importance of plasmonic NPs in nonlinear (NL) optics, measurements were carried out to characterize the effects of NL absorption and NL refraction, using the Z-scan technique on gold nanorods with different aspect ratios. The experiment showed the possibility of controlling the NL absorption behavior of plasmonic NPs from the competition between the effects of saturated absorption and inverse saturated absorption. Furthermore, it was possible to demonstrate that fifth-order nonlinearity contribute significantly to the NL refractive and NL scattering behaviors of plasmonic nanocomposites. Random laser (RL) experiments show that NPs with higher fifth-order scattering exhibit the lowest threshold for inducing the RL phenomenon. Finally, a new methodology based on the combination of disordered light beams pumping RL media, based on scattering nano or microparticles, has been explored to optimize the RL performance. The results show that by introducing a new degree of randomness in the light that pumps the RL, optimization factors of more than 20 times can be achieved for the emission intensity and the RL threshold. The experiments developed in this thesis demonstrate the importance of managing the optical properties of plasmonic NPs, by controlling their morphology and size, in studies and applications of NL optics and RLs.porUniversidade Federal de PernambucoPrograma de Pos Graduacao em Ciencia de MateriaisUFPEBrasilAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMateriais não metálicosNPs plasmônicasÓptica não linearLaser aleatórioNanopartículas plasmônicas para óptica não linear e laser aleatórioinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisdoutoradoreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFPEinstname:Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE)instacron:UFPECC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
