Resumo: | This dissertation was intended to examine the reclamation of waste rubber, copolymer ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM-R) using compatibilizing agents. In this study were prepared three compatibilizing agents: EPDM modified by 1-dodecanotiol (EPDMSDD), EPDM modified by stearic acid (EPDMAE) and EPDM modified by fatty acid linolenic and linoleic (EPDMAG). Were examined the effects of double-links and the size of the chain of compatibilizing agent in the mechanical properties and processing of mixtures. Moreover it was also studied the effect of the quantity of compatibilizing agent, 5 and 10 phr. The ethylene-octene copolymer (Engage) was used in the mixture to facilitate the dispersal of waste (EPDM-R) and compatibilizing agents. The compatibilization was evaluated by the mechanical properties of tensile strength and deformation at break, tear resistance, aging test, tests of swelling with solvent and tests of the processability of the mixture. The effect of compatibilization in the processing of mixtures was investigated by rheological analysis, using the analyzer processing of rubber (RPA), and through tests in a mill and internal extruder. The results showed that the presence of compatibilizing agent improves the mechanical properties of mixtures and strongly supports the incorporation of waste during processing by extrusion, as mixtures containing only residue were not processed easily and did not have good mechanical properties. Moreover, the best resulted of mechanical properties had been observed for the mixtures contend associated Engage with the 5 phr of compatibilizing agent, although these compositions to have presented the lesser values of density of crosslinking, indicating that the observed improvements mainly elapse of the effective compatibilization promoted for the compatibilizing agents. In a general way, the best resulted had been gotten using Engage with 5 phr of EPDMSDD. The increase in the amount of the compatibilizing promoted the formation of aggregate of load, that indicates the saturation in the interface load-polymer, as can be visualized in the results of electronic microscopy of sweepings (MEV). |

Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-26T19:51:53Z (GMT).
