Resumo: There are few reports on the use of glycerin as an additive in corn silage, however, the wide availability of crude glycerin originating from the production of biodiesel becomes interesting to study the feasibility of using silage as another form of glycerol is consumed by ruminants. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding increasing levels of crude glycerin as an additive in corn silage on the nutritive value, quality parameters of fermentation and in situ degradability of silages, on feed intake, apparent digestibility of nutrients, fecal production, milk production and composition, ruminal parameters, microbial protein production and blood components of Holstein x Gir cows, evaluate internal markers indigestible dry matter (iMS), indigestible neutral detergent fiber (iNDF) and indigestible acid detergent fiber (iADF), and evaluate the effect of levels of glycerin on carbohydrate fractions, degradation rate of carbohydrate fractions, the ruminal fermentation in vitro and production of methane in vitro of corn silage and total mixed ration. Four levels of inclusion of crude glycerin as an additive in corn silage in the diet of 12 multiparous cows in mid lactation were evaluated. Diets were composed of corn silage with 0, 5, 10 and 15% crude glycerin (based nature matter - NM), and concentrate based on soybean meal, corn meal and minerals, a forage:concentrate ration of 60:40, and supplied as total mixture. The addition of crude glycerin increased (P<0.05) content of dry matter (DM), non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC), total digestible nutrients (TDN) and in vitro digestibility of dry matter (IVDDM), and reduced (P<0.05) content of crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) of silages. Reduction (P<0.05) in the production of lactate, acetate and butyrate of silages were observed. With respect to nutrient intake, increase (P<0.05) in the intake of glycerol, MS, CP, digestible energy (DE), metabolizable energy (ME) and net energy for lactation (ELlac) were observed, and reduction (P<0.05) in the intake of ADF was observed. Increase (P<0.05) in the apparent digestibility of DM, CP, and total carbohydrates (TC) were observed. Milk production was not changed (P>0.05), however reduction (P<0.05) in feed conversion efficiency for milk production was observed, and increase (P<0.05) in quantity of protein milk of 11.54% was observed. Increase (P<0.05) in concentrations of N-NH3 and propionate in rumen fluid, and in microbial protein production were observed, but reduction (P<0.05) in concentrations of acetate in rumen fluid was observed. The addition of crude glycerin influenced positively (P<0.05) plasma concentrations of glucose and urea, whereas decreased plasma concentrations of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA). Increase (P<0.05) on rates of in vitro degradation of NFC and fiber carbohydrates (FC) of silages and total mixed ration were observed. For the in vitro fermentation of total mixed ration, increase (P<0.05) on propionate production was observed, without affected (P>0.05) on acetate production, with reduction (P<0.05) of methane production and reduction (P<0.05) in proportion of methane in the initial period of the fermentation.

No. of bitstreams: 1 2014 - Almira Biazon Fran?a.pdf: 836067 bytes, checksum: e88a48a5abb845a2908070ded2b09b6b (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-08-07T18:28:03Z (GMT). description There are few reports on the use of glycerin as an additive in corn silage, however, the wide availability of crude glycerin originating from the production of biodiesel becomes interesting to study the feasibility of using silage as another form of glycerol is consumed by ruminants.
