The current study aims to describe new species of nematode parasites in wild carnivore mammals from Brazil and record the occurrence of helminth parasites of this group of hosts in the municipality of Juiz de Fora, Zona da Mata, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Between June 2007 and January 2010 were necropsied 16 specimens of wild carnivore mammals, belonging to the species Chrysocyon brachyurus (n=5), Cerdocyon thous (n=6), Galictis cuja (n=3), Lontra longicaudis (n=1) e Leopardus wiedii (n=1). Also included were data from one specimen of Puma (Herpailurus) yagouaroundi necropsied in 2002. All hosts are from the microregion of Juiz de Fora, MG (21?40?22,03?S e 43?26?39,07?O) and were killed by running over, and donated by the Regional Office Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renov?veis (IBAMA), in the municipality of Juiz de Fora, MG. Helminths were not found in L. longicaudis and L. wiedii, and other host species were collected a total of 11 species of helminths: nine species of nematodes of the genus Strongyloides, Cylicopirura, Oslerus, Trichuris, Dioctophyma, Uncinaria, Crenosoma, Angiostrongylus, and Angiocaulus, and two species of cestodes of the genus Dipylidium, and Spirometra. Of the nematodes collected were described three new species. The first species of the genus Crenosoma in Brazil was described from specimens collected in the bronchi and bronchioles of adult male G. cuja. Angiostrongylus n. sp. was described from the nematodes collected from the pulmonary artery of P. (H.) yagouaroundi, and is the first record of a species of this genus of wild feline from Brazil. Oslerus (Oslerus) n. sp. is also the first species of the subgenus described and reported in Brazil, and was collected in the mucosa of the trachea and primary bronchi of C. brachyurus. New records of other helminth species have also been reported in the hosts of this current study. Strongyloides sp. and Trichuris vulpis were first reported in C. brachyurus from Brazil; and Dipylidium caninum was recorded in C. thous, which is the first report of this species of cestode in a wild carnivore host in the country. In addition to these new records, was also reported parasitism by Cylicospirura subequalis in P. (H.) yagouaroundi, which constitutes the second record of this nematode in Brazil, after the first record in the second half of the XIX century. The descriptions of new species and first record of some species of helminths in wild carnivore mammals in this study may be an indication that the studies with helminths in this group of vertebrates is still scarce in Brazil, which shows that there is still potential for new information about the helminths of this group of hosts in Brazil.
