Descobrindo a descrição na narração : uma proposta para aulas de português

This report presents the research entitled “Discovering the description in the narration: a proposal for Portuguese classes”, whose objective was to recognize the description (an ancilla narrationis composition) as a narrative construction aspect that interrelates the characters, places, objects and the phenomena, elements that made possible the literary reading of the story told in the oral tradition and recorded in the novel O tesouro de Jaboatão: história e fantasia, by José Bezerra dos Santos, and in the illustrations by Álvaro Santos. The research was conducted with students of the 7th grade of elementary school at Colégio Estadual Josino Menezes, in Japoatã, state of Sergipe. The study, which combines concepts of language and literature, was based on Lukács (1965), Garcia (1967), Bearzoti Filho (1991), Candido (2005, 2009), Freitag and Damaceno (2015), Bechara (2015), among others. For the intervention, as a product of the Professional Master’s Degree in Letters, a Pedagogical Notebook was prepared, composed of a didactic sequence that brings together activities with reading / listening, speaking and writing practices and a playful activity of treasure hunting, entitled “Hunting to the adjective ”, using excerpts of the novel and the images that illustrate it, as well as a journalistic text and the anthem of the city. Starting from a text that is part of their universe, the students learned about the existence of the written work, analyzed the function of the adjective in the construction of descriptions and the relationship between the elements described in the narrative composition. In fact, the qualitative research contributed to the promotion of reading as a more significant practice, pointing out ways for the development of reading competence in Portuguese language classes, as well as for the teaching-learning process of description, its constituent elements and the adjective, a grammatical item that represents an essential trait for the senses of the text, as indicated by the results of the activities and the exit test.
