O sentido público da praia urbana

Resumo: This these aims to understand the beach by the analysis and the practices established in the stretch-of-sand, as well as to analyze the ‘beach lifestyle”. The study was developed in the urban beaches of Natal city, capital of Rio Grande do Norte. The beaches Ponta Negra, Meio Beach, Areia Preta and Redinha comprise Natal coastline. The understanding of the public sense of urban beach, initially from the recognition of the sea bathing history and the process of bringing the city to the beach, has revealed two major aspects regarding the pattern of the urban beach: the desire for living by the sea, and the tensions between the mainland values and practices that emerged from the beach. The desire has been presented as beach configurator, as it is fulfilled by feedback expressions of infinite desires. Tensions, which are not necessarily the same, are still observable on the beach. It is said that there is always something new that can be done on the coast that seems to defy the mainland rules. The beach is perceived by its ephemerality (characterized by impermanence, as it has a not fixed dynamics), fluidity ( in different forms of appropriation), and fugacity ( its dynamics speed, for the flows which determine the logic of the cities). The beach, as part of the city, has become a leisure space and has emerged as the possibility of freedom from the exhaustive dynamics of the city. The beach lifestyle, comprising the cities, styles and people, is normally understood as casual, free and relaxed, when it is analyzed within the city area, it is recognized the resonance of urbanism in the determination established with the city, The notion of style is rewarded from the notion of design. Thus, the “beach lifestyle” is revealed as a redesign of the urban, and it has been observed that it is not so casual, not so free and not so relaxed.

Bem como, analisar o que comumente se reconhece como “estilo praiano” ou “estilo de vida praiano”. O estudo se desenvolveu nas praias urbanas da cidade de Natal, capital do Rio Grande do Norte, entre as praias que compõem o litoral natalense encontram-se a Praia de Ponta Negra, do Meio, Areia Preta e da Redinha. A compreensão do sentido público da praia urbana deu-se inicialmente a partir do reconhecimento da história do banho de mar e do processo de aproximação da cidade à praia, tal compreensão revelou dois aspectos centrais para pensar a configuração da praia urbana: o desejo pela beira-mar; e, as tensões entre os valores consolidados do continente e as práticas que emergiam da praia. O desejo se apresenta como configurador da praia, na medida em que esta se realiza pelas expressões retroalimentadas de desejos infinitos. As tensões, que não são necessariamente as mesmas, ainda são observáveis na configuração a praia. Há sempre algo novo que se diz poder fazer na beira-mar e que parece desafiar as regras advindas do continente. A praia é percebida pela sua particularidade de efemeridade (caracterizado pela impermanência, tem uma dinâmica não fixa), fluidez (em suas variadas formas de apropriação) e fugacidade (a velocidade de sua dinâmica, em fluxos que determinam a lógica das cidades). A praia, tornando-se parte da cidade, apresenta-se como espaço de lazer desta e consolida-se como a possibilidade de liberdade em relação a dinâmica exaustiva da cidade. O praiano, sobre o qual se afirma possível qualificar cidades, estilos e pessoas, e que é comumente entendido como despojados, livres e leves, ao ser analisado no âmbito da cidade, reconhece-se a ressonância do urbanismo em sua determinação, sendo compreendido pela ressonância que estabelece com o urbano. A noção de estilo é repensada a partir da noção de design.
