This dissertation aims to verify the prevalence of the narrative based on the problem/solution binomial in the documentary series Previdência: de onde viemos, para onde vamos, produced by TV Câmara in 2017. The theoretical basis is based on the work of the British Documentary School, in particular in the studies of the scottish John Grierson (1966). Grierson saw in the documentary also the opportunity to change the way of life of a community, considering that he carried social and educational functions. The theoretical basis is based also in the typology proposed by Nichols (2007) for the different types of documentary: Poetic, Observative, Participatory, Reflective, Performing and Expository. To analyze the series was used the method of filmic analysis of image and sound proposed by Penafria (2009). The procedures involved internal analysis and external analysis of the film. For internal analysis, the film decouping process previously established a frame selection criterion. The criterion adopted for the decoupage of the three episodes of the series was identification of Problem Frames (PF) and Solution Frames (SF). The selection resulted in four problem frames and 25 solution frames. The results indicate that this is a series that follows the expository model and confirms the hypothesis of prevalence of the narrative based on the problem/ solution binomial. However, the series of mini documentaries analyzed points rather to a work of political marketing than to a documentary in the form originally proposed by Grierson, due to the complex context of the pension reform project in the country.
