The Brazilian semiarid region has a path marked by lots of conflicts and events related to the water shortage and drought. Besides causing problems with the environmental justice, these conflicts provoke impacts in social groups that for centuries have been chastised with the lack of resources on that region. Considering the importance of the debate nowadays, the county of Poço Verde, located in the state of Sergipe, Brazilian northeast, was the place chosen for the execution of this research. This region presents a pluviometric regimen marked by extreme irregularities of rain, in time and space, although; in the last decade, the scenario of extreme poverty and social pillage has been decreasing with the arrival of the sustainable public politics. Based on these premises, the objective of this research was to analyze the water sustainability of Poço Verde county from the transformations that occurred after the arrival of the sustainable public politics, that aimed to the development and coexistence of the semiarid. The research has qualitative nature, but, the data analysis was quantitative, once the research investigation involved measurable and immeasurable questions, allowing an interdisciplinary vision of the problematic. The methodology was divided in: Bibliographical survey, records, data acquisition instruments, area of study characterization and the chosen method for this research was phenomenological. In the conclusion of this study, it was found that the coexisting actions with the drought has been securing water availability and reducing socioenvironmental effects in Poço Verde county. However, more public politics and sustainable techniques are required for the development of the region, thus, it has just been suggested a number of propositions/recommendations that can be applied, both by the leaders and residents of the Northeastern semiarid.
