Suicide is a global public health problem that has affected countless individuals of all stages of development. The phenomenon is not limited to the victim, but reaches society as a whole, with collective implications and both direct and indirect consequences for those involved. It is one of the main causes of death of young people in our country, especially considering the reality in the Rio Grande do Sul, a state that has the highest rates of death by suicide in Brazil, a phenomenon that can be avoided and prevented, in most cases. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the possibilities of including the perspective of suicide prevention in the actions of “Papo de Responsa”, a program for the prevention of hetero-inflicted violence developed by the Civil Police. Therefore, first, we characterized the presence of suicide in police records to verify how the phenomenon affects adolescents and young people, both in attempted and consummated manifestations. Secondly, a systematic review was carried out to gather and synthesize studies available in the literature on suicide prevention in adolescence. Finally, the report of a concrete experience was prepared to discuss the possibilities to include (or not) the perspective of suicide prevention of adolescents and young people to “Papo de Responsa”, acting in an intersectional perspective. The results of these studies were presented in three independent articles, revealing that suicide is a very current phenomenon in the lives of adolescents, especially in the form of attempts, which manifestations occur most often in the victims’ homes, who mostly reside with their families. Regarding prevention actions, there is a prevalence in the school and community contexts, and the former is considered mainly appropriate for such practices as they favor interpersonal relationships and the early detection of diseases, leading to greater cost-effectiveness of interventions. Finally, it is emphasized that “Papo de Responsa” by creating spaces for welcoming, listening, and guiding adolescents, from the establishment of horizontal relationships with them and dialogic with other sectors, could include and integrate the perspective of suicide prevention into the intersectional care network to promote the integral development of adolescents and young people.
