Resumo: | This work presents a study about education and citizenship, and about the relation established by the schooling practices in order to build a school model in which the citizen s formation is possible. Education has experienced alternative methods of living in society and developing imbricate in a content that is self-determined and influences educative and social actions. In this perspective, this research has as main focus to analyze the experience of the program Escola aberta para a cidadania which is a Brazilian public policy that aims to shrink down the schooling violence and to build citizens, this program was elaborated by UNESCO and is applied by the state, the program offers workshops at weekends to the community that leaves around the school, and uses the vacant school s space. The main purpose of this work was to get know the program and to understand which contributions to the educative actions and to the local community, verifying the advances, the difficulties and the future expectations. This research s methodology was case study and the main tool for that was Oral History, in its Thematic Oral History modality. The main authors that based the building of this text were SAVIANI, PINSKY, FREIRE, FERREIRA, CORRÊA, CARVALHO, GADOTTI E MORIN. This study allows to think about the concepts of citizenship and education as meanings imbricate and constantly rebuilt due to the complexity that they involve, in order to develop effectively the subjects with more democratic profiles that should transform the social relations to more fair and solidarity ones. The purpose of considering the comprehension about citizenship and education as a support to the understanding of the social structures was reached as it strengthened the deep hope which citizens can work, live, live with, and be happy with the constant construction of solidary and communitarian relationships that bring to the world the human kindness. |

A educação tem experienciado formas alternativas de convivência e desenvolvimento imbricados em um conteúdo que se autodetermina e que influencia, reciprocamente, as ações educativas e sociais. Nessa perspectiva, este trabalho tem como foco principal analisar a experiência do Programa Escola Aberta para a Cidadania, que é uma política pública voltada para a estruturação da cidadania; desenvolvido no Colégio Estadual Profª Edna May Cardoso, situado na COHAB Fernando Ferrari, em Camobi, Santa Maria RS; coordenado pela 8ª C.R.E. Este programa realiza-se em algumas escolas públicas, foi elaborado pela Secretaria de Educação do Governo do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, em parceria com a UNESCO com o objetivo de promover a cultura da paz e tentar minimizar as ações violentas ocorridas nas escolas e em seu entorno bem como proporcionar aprendizados diversificados a partir das oficinas ministradas, aos finais de semana, no espaço físico das escolas. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi conhecer o programa; entender quais as contribuições para a ação educativa e para a comunidade local; e verificar os avanços, as dificuldades e as expectativas para o futuro. A metodologia utilizada foi o estudo de caso que envolve uma técnica abrangente de instrumentos e abordagens de pesquisa, sendo a História Oral Temática a mais relevante. O aporte teórico constituiu-se por estudos que tratam da temática referente à cidadania e educação em: SAVIANI, 1991, 1997, 2000; PINSKY, 2008; FREIRE 1997, 2000, 2002; FERREIRA, 1993; CORRÊA, 1999; CARVALHO, 2004; CARVALHO, J. M. de 2002. GADOTTI, 2000; MORIN, 2001. O caminho transposto até aqui permite repensar os conceitos de cidadania e educação, como sentidos e significados imbricados e constantemente reconstruídos devido à complexidade que compreendem, para que ocorra o efetivo desenvolvimento dos sujeitos construindo um perfil mais democrático e comprometido em transformar a sociedade tornando as relações sociais e educativas mais justas e solidárias.
