Resumo: | In this work, a method for ultraviolet and microwave-assisted wet digestion (MAWD-UV) was developed for digestion of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) for further determination of Br, Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb and Sb by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The polymeric portion of a keyboard for desktop computer was used as a sample model for method optimization. Reference values were obtained using microwave-assisted wet digestion (MAWD) and microwave- induced combustion (MIC) methods from literature, as well as neutron activation analysis (NAA). Accuracy of MAWD-UV was investigated by spike recovery experiments and digestion of certified reference materials (CRMs). Digestion efficiency of MAWD-UV was evaluated by the determination of carbon content and residual acidity in digests and it was compared with that obtained by MAWD, using 1 to 14 mol L-1 HNO3 solutions. It was possible to observe an improvement on the digestion efficiency by using the UV lamps for more diluted solutions. The main parameters of MAWD-UV were investigated, as the digestion solution (HNO3 solutions, HNO3 and HCl solutions, addition of H2O2 or alkaline solutions), the atmosphere on the digestion vessel (5 or 10 bar of O2), and the irradiation program (power and time). Quantitative recoveries for bromine and metals were obtained using a mixture containing 0.5 mol L-1 HNO3, 0.5 mol L-1 HCl, with 5.3 mol L-1 H2O2, with a 60 min total digestion time (including cooling). With regard to the accuracy, the results obtained for digestion of CRMs of low density polyethylene (EC680k and EC681k) using MAWD-UV presented no statistical difference in comparison to the certified values, except for chromium. Limits of quantification from 0.010 μg g-1 (Cd) to 4.5 μg g-1 (Br) were obtained, in agreement to the legislation requirements. The MAWD-UV method allowed the determination of bromine and metals using a single sample preparation method, with diluted acids, suitable digestion efficiency and no bromine losses. |

A fração polimérica de um teclado para computador foi utilizada como amostra modelo para as otimizações. Valores de referência foram obtidos utilizando a decomposição por via úmida assistida por radiação micro-ondas (MAWD) e combustão iniciada por radiação micro-ondas (MIC), segundo métodos da literatura, além de análise por ativação neutrônica (NAA). A exatidão do método de MAWD-UV foi avaliada através de ensaios de recuperação e decomposição de material de referência certificado (CRM). A eficiência de decomposição por MAWD-UV foi avaliada pela determinação de carbono e de acidez residual dos digeridos e comparada com aquela obtida por MAWD, com uso de soluções de HNO3 com concentrações de 1 a 14 mol L-1. Foi possível observar melhor eficiência de decomposição com uso das lâmpadas UV, para soluções de ácido mais diluídas. Para a MAWD-UV, foram avaliados os principais parâmetros, tais como a solução de decomposição (soluções de HNO3, soluções de HNO3 e HCl, adição de H2O2 ou soluções alcalinas), a atmosfera no frasco de decomposição (5 ou 10 bar de O2), e o programa de irradiação (potência e tempo). Recuperações quantitativas para bromo e metais foram obtidas quando foi utilizada a mistura de HNO3 0,5 mol L-1 e HCl 0,5 mol L-1 com H2O2 5,3 mol L-1, com tempo total do programa de decomposição de 60 min, incluindo o tempo de arrefecimento. Quanto à exatidão do método, os resultados obtidos para a decomposição dos CRMs de polietileno de baixa densidade (EC680k e EC681k) usando a MAWD-UV não apresentaram diferença estatística significativa em relação aos valores certificados, exceto para cromo. Limites de quantificação de 0,010 μg g-1 (Cd) a 4,5 μg g-1 (Br) foram obtidos, os quais atendem às exigências da legislação. O método MAWD-UV permitiu a determinação de bromo e de metais utilizando um método único de preparo de amostra, empregando ácidos diluídos, com eficiência de decomposição adequada e sem perdas de bromo.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Naturais e ExatasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em QuímicaUFSMBrasilQuímicaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessResíduo eletrônicoBromoMetaisPolímerosQuímicaQuímica analíticaCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::QUIMICADecomposição assistida por radiação micro-ondas e ultravioleta de resíduos de equipamentos elétricos e eletrônicos para determinação de Br, Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb e Sbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisMello, Paola de Azevedohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2189500441942469Costa, Adilson Ben dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2604778196819181Müller, Edson Irineuhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5994311290376153http://lattes.cnpq.br/6803677326638722Iop, Gabrielle Dineck1006000000006000128b934-4b3f-43d6-8526-fb278da0f67341b81590-6308-4707-9f14-a70a1cb13cb98fd7d402-38cb-487a-ae04-60b751dc48d66807df31-e8bb-413e-a246-d79076e2d085reponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
