Resumo: | This thesis has as its research object the Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul (1984) organized by the brothers Zeno Cardoso Nunes and Rui Cardoso Nunes. Theoretically supported by the History of Linguistic Ideas (HLI), we consider this dictionary as a linguistic instrument with a regionalist nature where it is possible to observe socio-cultural practices of gaucho society. HLI, as a field of study, gives us the theoretical presuppositions through which we analyze the way how the Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul and the terms registered in this dictionary relate to History, that is, how language gives meaning to History. We also rely on the Benvenistian perspective (BENVENISTE, [1966] 2005, [1966] 2006) and on Guimarães (2005, 2018) to analyze the position of enunciating subjects made by the Nunes brothers who, when organizing the Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul, enunciate and define female subjects. From the Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul, we selected the terms china, machorra and morocha to analyze the way their definitions are crossed by social, historical, cultural, ideological and political aspects. Subsequently, we compared the definitions of china, machorra and morocha with the definitions of these same words extracted from dictionaries organized before our object of study. We analyzed the updating or non-updating of the selected words’ definitions. We found that Zeno Cardoso Nunes and Rui Cardoso Nunes used these dictionaries as a source and did not update much the definitions of china, machorra and morocha as they rewrite what was already registered through the rewriting process proposed by Guimarães (2005, 2018). Rewriting, as an analytical category, allows us to analyze how the selected words and their definitions establish semantic relations with other words and/or expressions often repeating the derogatory character registered in their definitions, happening in the same way as it happens with subjects named china, machorra and morocha. Our thesis aims to establish a dialogue among HLI, History and studies of gender and race, in an interpretation that questions how language means the socio-historical conditions regarding the social constructions of the feminine gender constituting the meanings of china, machorra and morocha. In this way, the Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul constitutes a linguistic materiality where it can be investigated how language is affected by History and society, giving meaning to the relations among language, subject and History found in the words selected for this research. |

Apoiados teoricamente na História das Ideias Linguísticas (HIL), consideramos esse dicionário como um instrumento linguístico de cunho regionalista no qual é possível observar práticas socioculturais da sociedade gaúcha. A HIL, enquanto campo de estudos, fornece-nos pressupostos teóricos por meio dos quais analisamos o modo como o Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul e os verbetes registrados nesse dicionário se relacionam com a História, ou seja, como a língua significa a História. Apoiamo-nos também na perspectiva benvenistiana (BENVENISTE, [1966] 2005, [1966] 2006) e em Guimarães (2005, 2018), buscando analisar a posição de sujeitos enunciadores exercida pelos irmãos Nunes que, ao produzir o Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul, enunciam e definem sujeitos mulheres. Do Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul, recortamos os verbetes china, machorra e morocha a fim de analisar o modo como suas definições estão atravessadas pelo social, histórico, cultural, ideológico e político e com questões de gênero e de raça. Posteriormente, comparamos as definições de china, machorra e morocha com as definições desses mesmos verbetes extraídas de dicionários produzidos em épocas anteriores ao dicionário que nos serve de objeto de estudo. Constatamos que Zeno Cardoso Nunes e Rui Cardoso Nunes utilizam esses dicionários como fonte e pouco atualizam as definições de china, machorra e morocha, pois reescrituram o que já foi dito por meio do processo de reescrituração proposto por Guimarães (2005, 2018). A reescrituração, enquanto categoria analítica, permite que analisemos o modo como os verbetes selecionados, bem como suas definições estabelecem relações semânticas com outras palavras e/ou expressões, muitas vezes, repetindo o caráter depreciativo daquilo que é significado nas suas definições. Em suma, nossa tese objetiva estabelecer um diálogo entre a HIL, a História e os estudos de gênero e de raça, em um gesto de interpretação que coloca em discussão como a língua significa as condições sócio-históricas no que se refere às construções sociais do gênero feminino que constituem os sentidos de china, machorra e morocha. Dessa forma, o Dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sul constitui-se em uma materialidade linguística na qual se pode investigar o modo como a língua é afetada pela História e pela sociedade, significando, assim, as relações entre língua, sujeito e História nos verbetes selecionados para esta pesquisa, bem como a relação entre a enunciação e as palavras.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Artes e LetrasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em LetrasUFSMBrasilLetrasAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessDicionáriosEstudos enunciativosGêneroHistória das ideias linguísticasRaçaDictionariesEnunciative studiesGenderHistory of linguistic ideasRaceCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRASAs palavras e a enunciação: a china, a machorra e a morocha no dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do SulWords and the enunciation: china, machorra and morocha in the dicionário de regionalismos do Rio Grande do Sulinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisSturza, Eliana Rosahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6356872087811361Brum, Ceres KaramPassamani, Guilherme RodriguesSilveira, Verli Fátima Petri daBueno, Rejane Escotohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0574174892260993Echevarria, Felipe Rodrigues800200000001600600600600600600600262cd411-59cb-40a5-a23d-fe5c88933899aac48a29-5f0d-47fd-967f-b16e8fe997a9f8163b92-ef8d-4a39-a5b9-6fc164007e3461ccad26-154a-4b76-9ba5-3a8d07dfb9bb9f09833a-07e2-4673-ae57-d46b1b12cd9d864048ff-82d4-4df0-9a01-1596db65b6c0reponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGLETRAS_2022_ECHEVARRIA_FELIPE.pdfTES_PPGLETRAS_2022_ECHEVARRIA_FELIPE.pdfTeseapplication/pdf2125816http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/27402/1/TES_PPGLETRAS_2022_ECHEVARRIA_FELIPE.pdf90ad77d64e44952f87225e070f622ac7MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
