Resumo: | Cancer presents a prominent place as a public health problem. Thus, information from the Hospital Registry of Cancer (RHC) is a fundamental tool for health surveillance. Thus, this study had as a research question: how to present the quality of the information collected by the Hospital Registry of Cancer of the Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM). And, as an objective, to evaluate the quality of information from the HUSM's RHC consolidated database between the years 2010 to 2015. It was a descriptive and retrospective study with a quantitative approach of a total of 7126 cases. Data were obtained by downloading the data from the Hospital Registry of Cancer System (SisRHC), provided by HUSM RHC. The information was exported from this System to a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel®, where analysis was performed through descriptive statistics through the proportion of incomplete, duplicate and inconsistent cases. There was a degree of completeness "bad" for the variables alcoholism, education, occupation and smoking; and “excellent” for race/color, and city. Variables related to the classification of malignant tumors, pTNM, staging and TNM reached degrees of completeness and "very poor" consistency in all analyzed years. Regarding consistency, there were low percentages of non-existent codes and inconsistency between the variables: topography and laterality and between the variables dates of the first consultation and beginning of treatment. As for duplicity, 8.2% of all cases were registered more than once during the analyzed years. It is considered that this study allowed knowing some of the gaps that interfere in the quality of HUSM RHC information. It is hoped to foster reflections and discussions that allow all professionals involved in the RHC data generation process to be qualified and motivated to generate reliable and quality information, which will reflect in the actions of assistance planning, prevention and control of the cancer. |
