Resumo: Male breast cancer is a rare disease, with a low frequency in the general population. This type of cancer represents about 0.2% of all cancers in men, accounting for 0.1% of cancer deaths in men. Despite the rarity of this comorbidity, there is an increase in the incidence of this pathology, mainly in the southern region of Brazil. Due to the rarity of this pathology, an etiology is still not fully known. This study evaluated the presence of breast lesions in men through ultrasound, pathological and cytological examinations performed in men at the University Hospital of Santa Maria/RS. The study had a retrospective, quantitative and cross-sectional approach, considering data from the period from 2004 to 2019. The study group consisted of 27 male patients, with a mean age of 52.2±13.09 years, with one individual he was. excluded A total of 1,974 reports were evaluated, among men and women, with the presence of 594 breast cancers in women and 2 in men being observed. Regarding the biopsy, 31% of the individuals (n=8) presented a positive report (with alterations), 54% (n=14) presented a negative report (no alterations) and in 15% (n=4) the result was not found. /biopsy report. Due to the rarity of the pathology, an extensive period of 15 years was analyzed to find a study sample. From this sample it was possible to evaluate the characteristics of the lesions, their prevalence, ecological characteristics, among other aspects. There is a need to implement public policies associated with men's health, which address male breast cancer, from a popular perspective, within the scope of primary care, in health promotion policies.

There is a need to implement public policies associated with men's health, which address male breast cancer, from a popular perspective, within the scope of primary care, in health promotion policies.O câncer de mama masculino é uma doença rara, apresentando uma baixa frequência na população em geral. Este tipo de câncer representa cerca de 0,2% de todos os cânceres em homens, sendo responsável por 0,1% das mortes por câncer no sexo masculino. Apesar da raridade desta comorbidade, verifica-se um aumento da incidência desta patologia, principalmente na região sul do Brasil. Pela raridade desta patologia, a etiologia ainda não é totalmente conhecida. Este trabalho avaliou a presença de lesões mamárias em homens por meio dos exames ecográficos, patológicos e citológicos realizados em homens no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria/RS. O estudo teve uma abordagem retrospectiva, quantitativa e transversal, sendo considerados dados do período de 2004 até 2019. O grupo de estudo foi composto por 27 pacientes do sexo masculino, com média de 52,2±13,09 anos, sendo que um indivíduo foi excluído. Foram avaliados 1974 laudos, dentre homens e mulheres, sendo observada a presença de 594 cânceres de mamas em mulheres e 2 em homens. Em relação à biópsia, 31% dos indivíduos (n=8) apresentaram laudo positivo (com alterações), 54% (n=14) apresentaram laudo negativo (sem alterações) e em 15% (n=4) não foi encontrado o resultado/laudo da biópsia. Devido à raridade da patologia, foi analisado um período extenso de 15 anos para encontrar a amostra do estudo. A partir desta amostra foi possível avaliar as características das lesões, suas prevalências, características ecográficas, dentre outros aspectos. Percebe-se a necessidade de implementação de políticas públicas associadas à saúde do homem, que abordem o câncer de mama masculino, a partir de uma perspectiva popular, no âmbito da atenção primária, em políticas de promoção de saúde.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências da SaúdePrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências da SaúdeUFSMBrasilCiências da SaúdeAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCâncer de mamaExamesHomensHospital universitárioBreast cancerExamsMenUniversitary hospitalCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDEAvaliação de pacientes masculinos submetidos à biópsias de mama, exames ecográficos, anatomopatológicos e citopatológicos em um hospital universitário federal do Rio Grande do SulEvaluation of male patients submitted to breast biopsy, ecographic, anatomopathological and cytopathological exams at a federal university hospital in Rio Grande do Sulinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisGallarreta, Francisco Maximiliano Pancichhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6610643089938647Weinmann, Angela Regina MacielPadoin, Licerio Vicentehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6781858042370373Souza, Laís Praetzel Soeiro de4000000000016006006006006007747f366-0bd6-4a70-8e26-cdf8877f0ec60f496911-af58-431c-aa76-97ead01febfa06679244-e12d-4d8d-b33e-0c7ee8fc645fdb0c2102-472c-456f-8b4f-e1412f95690dreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGCS_2023_SOUZA_LAÍS.pdfDIS_PPGCS_2023_SOUZA_LAÍS.pdfDissertação de mestradoapplication/pdf282770http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/29626/1/DIS_PPGCS_2023_SOUZA_LA%c3%8dS.pdffd019ca9d670891e6437a756b4cfad59MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
