Resumo: The oral breathing has been widely studied in phonoaudiology due to damage to stomatognathic‟ structures and functions, mainly on children facial growth period, which makes understandable the relevance of several researches that explore this issue. Therefore, this study has as purpose: to verify and compare the electrical activity of facial muscles in order to correlate the obstruction degree tonsil and adenoid with the electrical activity on upper and lower orbicular muscles among nasal breathers and vicious and obstructive oral breathers children. 59 children, with age between 7 and 11 and 11 months, divided according to breathing mode and the oral breathing etiology: 15 nasal breathers (NB), 23 vicious oral breathers (VOB) and 21 obstructive oral breathers (OOB). All of them were submitted to an otorhinolaringologic, phonoaudiologic and eletromiographic evaluation. The latter was performed while resting, swallowing, suction and masticatoric and labial isometry. To the data analysis was carried out the Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon test for comparison among the groups and among the muscles, respectively. The correlation analysis was performed with the Spearman correlation coefficient, all of them with a significance level by 5%. It was verified that the electrical activity on facial muscles proved itself similar when compared with the three groups studied. The temporal and the lesser orbicular muscle were more actives while resting and on labial isometry mainly in the VOB and OOB. The relation of the muscles on the opposite sides of face in the masticatoric isometry revealed asymmetry. It was not verified the correlation between the obstruction degree tonsil and adenoid and the upper and lower orbicular muscles‟ electric activity in the evaluated situations, except by the lower orbicular muscle on the swallowing in the obstructive and vicious oral breathers
