Resumo: | This dissertation aims to analyze the sustainability of family farming systems assisted by EMATER in Rio Grande do Sul. Discussions about a "sustainable world" become increasingly present and necessary in a wide range of environments. In order to deepen discussions about this complex theme and seeking knowledge about its operationalization, this work emphasize production systems aimed at family farming, so-called family farmers, an activity that is properly regulated and occupies vast areas of southern Brazil. In the evaluation process, sustainability indicators play a key role in generating data. And in order to show the direction and what changes are needed at the moment and leading to a path with a proposal to contribute to the sustainable development of agroecosystems, this sustainability assessment study followed the procedures proposed by MESMIS, "Evaluation Framework for Natural Resource Management Systems incorporating Sustainability Indicators ". This provides a methodological framework for assessing the sustainability of different natural resource management systems at different scales. In order to make a judgment about sustainability in the management system, the information obtained through the different indicators is integrated using multicriteria analysis techniques, to finally propose solutions and/or improvements in its socioenvironmental profile. Structured operationally in successive cycles, the MESMIS gives rise to a dynamic and spiral process. However, in partnership with the EMATER / RS technicians, this methodology was adopted and, in a pilot meeting with all the professionals involved, the necessary indicators were analyzed and created to verify the sustainability of the production system of the RS family farmer. Subsequently, the questionnaires for seventeen family farmers systems were established and applied in seven regional EMATER / RS zones contemplating samples for the whole state. The results of the pilot meeting demonstrated that the method was effective in the development of sustainability indicators as proposed. Therefore, the verified indicators presented significant results regarding sustainability, and alsomaking the family farmers chosen by their regions as the basis for reflections on how they are being assisted in what confers the rural extension and the techniques taken to the field, as well as actions directed to maintain, improve and / or ensure the sustainability of these production systems. |

As discussões sobre um “mundo sustentável” tornam-se cada vez mais presentes e necessárias nos mais variados ambientes. A fim de aprofundar discussões em torno dessa temática complexa e buscando conhecimento sobre sua operacionalização, este trabalho faz um recorte nos sistemas de produção voltados à pecuária de cunho familiar, os chamados pecuaristas familiares, atividade esta devidamente regulamentada e que ocupa atualmente vastas extensões sulinas. No processo de avaliação, os indicadores de sustentabilidade exercem papel fundamental para a geração de dados. E com o intuito de mostrar a direção e quais mudanças tem necessidade no momento, e conduzindo à um caminho com proposta para contribuir com o desenvolvimento sustentável dos agroecossistemas, este estudo de avaliação de sustentabilidade seguiu os procedimentos propostos pelo MESMIS, “Marco de Evaluación de Sistemas de Manejo de Recursos Naturales incorporando Indicadores de Sustentabilidad”. Este, fornece um quadro metodológico para avaliar a sustentabilidade de diferentes sistemas de manejo de recursos naturais em diferentes escalas. Para emitir um juízo de valor sobre a sustentabilidade no sistema de gestão, as informações obtidas através dos diferentes indicadores são integradas usando técnicas de análise multicritério, para, finalmente, propor soluções e/ou melhorias no seu perfil socioambiental. Estruturado operacionalmente em ciclos sucessivos, o MESMIS dá origem a um processo dinâmico e em espiral. Contudo, em parceria com os técnicos da EMATER/RS, esta metodologia foi adotada e, em reunião piloto com todos os profissionais envolvidos foram discutidos e criados os indicadores necessários para verificar a sustentabilidade do sistema de produção dos pecuaristas familiares do RS. Posteriormente, foram estabelecidos e aplicados os questionários para desessete sistemas de produção de pecuaristas familiares, em sete regionais pertencentes a EMATER/RS, contemplando amostras para todo o estado. Os resultados da reunião piloto demonstraram que o método se mostrou eficaz na elaboração de indicadores de sustentabilidade como proposto. Portanto, os indicadores verificados apresentaram resultados significativos quanto a sustentabilidade, fazendo dos pecuaristas familiares escolhidos pelas suas regionais, a base para reflexões sobre o modo como estes estão sendo assistidos no que confere a extensão rural e as técnicas levadas ao campo, bem como ações direcionadas para manter, melhorar e/ou assegurar a sustentabilidade destes sistemas de produção.Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Extensão RuralUFSMBrasilAgronomiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessIndicadoresPecuária familiarSustentabilidadeIndicatorsFamily farmingSustainabilityCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::AGRONOMIASustentabilidade dos sistemas de produção de pecuária familiar no Rio Grande do SulSustainability of family livestock production systems in Rio Grande do Sulinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSilveira, Vicente Celestino Pireshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9996388016752276Azevedo, Eduardo Bohrer dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4718179525069240Quadros, Fernando Luiz Ferreira dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9202266292366562http://lattes.cnpq.br/4937680498872025Leal, Patrícia da Rosa5001000000096000ad84ca7-2b5a-4a88-ace3-615a37f5b439ec51db2c-cd41-403e-83fc-1c859b5e678eb52f40e2-ce6a-418c-8cbe-21769ef865ec108064ed-80df-4ecf-9af7-76fa38ca3c75reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGER_2018_LEAL_PATRICIA.pdfDIS_PPGER_2018_LEAL_PATRICIA.pdfDissertação de Mestradoapplication/pdf2061211http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/18610/1/DIS_PPGER_2018_LEAL_PATRICIA.pdf5d4da587747b4f6ef78f33c394107b2dMD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
