Resumo: This research aimed at understanding how young academic mothers, living in the students’ residence, balance motherhood and academic formation at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), and how this process impacts their access to public higher education. This study is part of the School Practice and Public Policy research line (LP2) of the Masters course in Education at the Federal University of Santa Maria. It was considered relevant to reflect and to discuss some aspects that have been proved important during this research, such as issues involving youth, gender issues, and maternity. To provide support to these discussions authors such as Mirla Cisne (2014a, 2004b, 2015), Heleieth Saffioti (2004), Pierre Bourdieu (2002), among others were studied. The research theme emerged from the concerns the author perceived while working as a Social Worker in Higher Education. This job was focused on the feasibility of public education policies, especially regarding the access and the stay of low-income students in public higher education. Another factor that contributed to the choosing of the researched subject was the interest in the research coordinated by Professor Sueli Salva, held in the students’ residence with mothers and their children. The present study was carried out with four young students living in the students’ residence of the UFSM. They balance their maternity and their academic formation in a space which was not planned for this. This is a qualitative research composed of autobiographical narratives, since this is the methodology considered to better bring out the aspects that are related to the daily life of these young student mothers. Data was produced through empirical research, bibliographical research, and interviews with young women, who composed their own autobiographical narratives and analysis. In these narratives the inequality of opportunities and the different levels of difficulties involved in public policies and in the academic formation of young mothers could be perceived. Issues considering the organization of time and routines that permeate youth, maternity, and the undergraduate life could also be observed.

O estudo se insere na Linha de Pesquisa Práticas Escolares e Políticas Públicas (LP2) do curso de Mestrado em Educação da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Consideramos pertinente refletir e discutir alguns aspectos que se demonstraram importantes no decorrer da pesquisa, como as questões que envolvem a juventude, as questões de gênero e a maternidade, para subsidiar tais discussões utilizou-se enquanto bibliografia autoras(es) como Mirla Cisne (2014a, 2004b, 2015), Heleieth Saffioti (2004), Pierre Bourdieu (2002), entre outros. A temática de pesquisa emergiu a partir das inquietações percebidas no trabalho desenvolvido como Assistente Social atuante na Educação Superior, cujo foco de atuação está na viabilização da política pública de educação, sobretudo ao que se refere ao acesso e permanência de acadêmicos(as) de baixa renda no ensino superior público. Outro fator que contribui para a emergência da temática pesquisada foi o contato e interesse na pesquisa coordenada pela Professora Sueli Salva, realizada na Casa de Estudantes junto as mães e seus filhos(as). O presente estudo foi realizado com quatro jovens estudantes moradoras da Casa de Estudantes de Santa Maria, que conciliam a maternidade com a formação acadêmica, em um espaço não planejado para esta conciliação. Trata-se uma pesquisa qualitativa, construída através de narrativas autobiográficas, por considerar que esta é a metodologia que melhor pode fazer emergir os aspectos que dizem respeito ao cotidiano das jovens mães estudantes. A produção de dados foi construída através da pesquisa empírica, da bibliográfica e das entrevistas com as jovens, compondo assim a construção de suas narrativas autobiográficas e suas análises, nas quais podemos perceber a desigualdade de oportunidades e os diferentes níveis de dificuldades que envolvem as políticas públicas e educacionais voltadas a graduação das jovens mães, assim como pode-se perceber questões singulares acerca da organização do tempo e das rotinas que perpassam a juventude, a maternidade e a graduação.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de EducaçãoPrograma de Pós-Graduação em EducaçãoUFSMBrasilEducaçãoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCasa de estudantesPolíticas públicasJuventudeMaternidadeMulheresStudent residencePublic policiesYouthMaternityWomenCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAOA maternidade na Casa de Estudantes da UFSM: desafios e conquistas das acadêmicas mães moradoras da CEUMaternity at the UFSM students’ residence: challenges and conquests of undergraduate students/mothersinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSalva, Suelihttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8144640957398714Prestes, Liliane Madrugahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5624593076143041Fonseca, Laura Regina da Silva Câmara Maurício dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7382820396112114http://lattes.cnpq.br/0658408299182512Pletiskaitz, Katiúcia7008000000066008d154259-70a6-48f2-82ec-a25ebb6f2bd9f4f11a60-de99-486b-b9e6-9934d556ca14dff5f6fc-821b-4565-a7f6-cb243e479b8b87f74e81-743c-4c92-852d-32a3520803b8reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGEDUCACAO_2018_PLETISKAITZ_KATIUCIA.pdfDIS_PPGEDUCACAO_2018_PLETISKAITZ_KATIUCIA.pdfDissertação de Mestradoapplication/pdf1606460http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/15159/1/DIS_PPGEDUCACAO_2018_PLETISKAITZ_KATIUCIA.pdf9b0484b903f4ead2bb1eb0e033af2f75MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
