Resumo: Effect of different levels castor seed meal (Ricinus communis L.) treated with calcium oxide (CSM) was evaluated in multiple supplements on productive performance of heifers in pasture of "Brachiaria decumbens" during dry/rainy transition season. The experimental period was of 84 days. The experimental area was constituted of five paddock (2, 5 ha each) with DM availability of 4279, 7 kg/ha. Thirty five heifers with initial age of 13 months and 210,5±0,8 kg live weight were used. A completely randomized design, with five treatments and seven replicates, was used. The supplements contained 25% of CP and progressive replacing of the soybean meal (SM) by CSM, the levels were: 0; 33; 67 and 100 %, supplied in the level of 1,0 kg/animal/day. The group of control animals (MM) received mixture mineral ad libitum. The average daily gain (g) was: 366,1; 439,7; 478,9; 556,3; 493,9, respectively, to MM and supplement containing 0; 33; 67 and 100% of castor seed meal treated. It was not found effects (P>0,10) on daily gain for levels of castor seed meal treated. There was difference in the average daily gain between the supplemented and not supplemented animals (P<0,10). The intake in kg/day of organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), non-fiber carbohydrates corrected for protein and ash (NFC) and the apparent digestibility of dry matter (DDM) was higher (P<0.1) for supplemented animals compared to animals not supplemented. Among the replacement levels of soybean meal by CSM observed decreased linearly with increasing level of castor seed meal on the intake of dry matter (DM), OM, EE, intake of neutral detergent fiber intake (NFC) and total digestible nutrients (TDN). The apparent digestibility of DM,OM, CP, EE and NFC was higher (P<0,10) in the supplemented animals compared to those not supplemented. Among the replacement levels of SM by CSM observed decreased linearly with increasing level of CSM on DM, OM, CP. In relation to the efficiency of microbial synthesis not found difference (P>0,10) in the synthesis of microbial protein per kilogram of TDN consumed (EFM) between the supplemented and not supplemented, as well as no difference was observed between the levels of substitution of SM by CSM. In the experiment 2 the objective was to evaluate the effect of different cotton seed meal (CS) levels in multiple supplements on productive performance of the heifers in pasture of Brachiaria decumbens during rainy season. The experimental period was of 84 days. The experimental area was constituted of five paddock (2, 5 ha each) with DM availability of 4361, 3 kg/ha. Thirty five heifers with initial age of 16 months and 249,8 ± 0,6 kg live weight were used. A completely randomized design, with five treatments and seven replicates, was used. The supplements contained approximately 30% of CP and progressive replacing of the soybean meal (SM) by cotton seed meal, the levels were: 0; 33; 67 and 100 % of proteic sources, supplied in the level of 1,0 kg/animal/day. In the group of control animals (MM) received mixture mineral ad libitum. The average daily gain (g) was: 397; 546; 570; 525; 542, respectively, to MM and supplement containing 0; 33; 67 and 100% of cotton seed meal. It was not found effects (P>0,10) on daily gain for levels of cotton seed meal. There was difference in the average daily gain between the supplemented and not supplemented animals (P<0,10). The intake in kg / day of crude protein and non-fiber carbohydrates corrected for protein (NFC), apparent digestibility of crude protein and non-fiber carbohydrates corrected for protein was higher (P<0,10) for supplemented animals compared to animals not supplemented. Among the replacement levels of soybean meal by cotton seed meal treated observed increased linearly with increasing level of cotton seed meal on the apparent digestibility of DM,OM, CP, EE and TDN. In relation to the efficiency of microbial synthesis not found difference (P> 0,10) in the synthesis of microbial protein per kilogram of TDN consumed (EFM) between the supplemented and not supplemented, as well as no difference was observed between the levels of substitution of SM by CS.
