Presupposing that the family consumption pattern had a quite narrow relationship with the income levels and with the family life cycle stages, insofar as there is a tendency of relative consumer with essential expenses in the smallest income levels, at the same time in that there is a tendency of larger expenses with education in the youngest families and with health in the latest families, for example, it was aimed at to analyze the consumption pattern of the Bambuí families, considering the family life cycle and different income levels. Specifically, it was looked for to examine if different incomes or different family life cycle stages can indicate variations in the consumption levels. For this, a descriptive and explicative research questioned a significant sample of families in the urban homes of the town, for establish a family socioeconomic and demographic profile, analyzing also the family consumption in function of the income levels, of the family life cycle stages and of the sub-categories formed by the categories of these variables. The results showed that both variables affect the family consumption behavior sensibly. The main basic items of expenses, feeding, house and hygiene, modify more with the income than with the family life cycle stages and the life cycle affects other essential items, as the health and the clothing. Other items are affected considerably for both variables, as the transport and the education private, while others items modify few with the income and with the life cycle, as the personal services. As the analyzed sub-categories are formed by the variables, they carry strong influence of them, but some of them had quite specific characteristics as the sub-category of the families through marriages of medium income, whereat there is very expense with transports, the sub-category of the families with young children of high income, wereat there is very expense with recreation and culture, the sub-category of the families with adolescents of low income, whereat there is very expense with feeding, the subcategory of the families of empty nest of high income, wereat there is very expense with son allowances, and the sub-category one of the late families of high income, whereat the families saved a lot.
