Perfil de desenvolvimento dos municípios mato-grossenses: uma análise comparativa entre os que plantaram e não plantaram soja, 2000 e 2010

Soy expansion for the State of Mato Grosso from the second half of the twentieth century brought a pattern of development considered by many to concentrate and uneven on prospects economic, social and environmental. Therefore, this study sought to differentiate the process of development of municipalities in Mato Grosso based in soybeans, seeking to quantify and classify the evolution of the municipalities that planted and not planted this culture between the years 2000 and 2010. To identify explanatory factors that have led to diverse development, it was applied to exploratory factor analysis, due to the large number of variables involved, resulting in four factors: measure of quality of life (F1), effects for soybean (F2), general perspectives of development (F3), prospects of economic development (F4) and environmental development perspectives (F5). With the factor scores, we built a General Index of Socioeconomic Development (IGDSE) to measure such inequalities. For the year 2000, according to IGDSE, municipalities that employed soy in their activities have developed an average of 20.46% more of the municipalities that did not plant this culture. In 2010, these counties had a greater average change of 23.37%. In an attempt to trace development profiles for municipalities in Mato Grosso was made a cluster analysis of cases, which owned the purpose of forming homogeneous groups, and the groups formed, both for 2000 and for 2010, the best results gathered municipalities more planted soybeans in their respective years in the regions West, Medium North and Southeast, reinforcing the overflow of culture between these. In order to support the development of the municipalities, the State and the Federal Government should consider policies that decrease these inequalities and to improve as a whole the levels of regional development, be they related to the expansion of this culture or linked to other activities.
