The objective of the present study was to find the digestible lysine requirement and to evaluate nutritional plans for barrows of two different genetic lines. Different digestible lysine levels were tested to evaluate performance and carcass characteristics. Ninety six barrows selected for lean deposition were used. The animals were distributed in experimental design of randomized blocks, with 4x2 factorial arrangements (four digestible lysine levels and two genetic lines), six replications and two animals per experimental unit. The treatments corresponded of three sequences of digestible lysine levels inside four nutritional plans: P1= 0,80 - 0,70 - 0,60%; P2= 0,90 - 0,80 - 0,70%; P3= 1,00 - 0,90 - 0,80% e P4= 1,10 - 1,00 - 0,90% used in the phases of 63 to 103; 104 to 133 and 134 to 163 days old, respectively. Two experiments were carried out with this work, one of digestible lysine levels during the period of 63 to 103 days old, in which were evaluated digestible lysine levels of (0.8; 0.9; 1.0 e 1.1%), and another of nutritional plans during the period of 63 to 163 days old,. There wasn t found statistical interaction (P>0.05) between the genetic lines and lysine levels in pig performance and carcass characteristics. The daily lysine intake was affected (P<0.01) and increased linearly with the sequence of digestible lysine levels. The line two has better carcass characteristics (loin eye area, back fat thickness and lean %) than the line one in the phase from 63 to 103 days old (P<0.05). The level of 0.8% digestible lysine supplied animal s requirement of both genetic lines, during the phase of 63 to 103 days old, with an average daily intake of 16.60 grams of digestible lysine. The treatment one (0.8; 0.7; 0.6% of digestible lysine level) supplied animal's requirement as a nutritional plan in the phases of (63 to 103, 104 to 133 and 134 to 163 days old) respectively, with an average daily intake of 17.50 grams of digestible lysine.
