Considering the empirical observation of the increasing number of separations and divorces, and the consequences of the matrimony rupture on the family life dynamics, it was delimited the following question of study: the conflicts related to legal separation and the processes that happen after the conjugal separation affect the families quality of life? To answer this question, this study aimed to analyze the consequences of the conflicts related to the dissolution of the conjugal society over the families quality of life, as well as the legal disputes that occurred after the separation. These disputes created new legal actions, associated with the different aspects of the quality of life. Directed interviews were used as methodological procedures, once this research is based on descriptive and qualitative aspects. The results showed that the women, as a rule, have the child custody, resist to engage in new marriages, seek for work and qualification to acquire larger autonomy and also as a budget supply source, besides activating the nets protection and familiar aid when they separate. The conflicts related to the dissolution of the common life are based on four points that guide the life of the couple, which are: spousal abuse, initiate by the lack of exchange and lack of common projects between the spouses, besides the conflicts that affect the peace, tranquility and security. These situations of conflicts intensify by the absence of conflict management, that is inherent to the relationships, and, therefore, it is not possible to point out only one cause to justify the end of the marriage. Then, the reasons that unstable the union are varied and multifaceted; in addition, the couple conflicting relation, which causes the legal separation, does not cease after the dissolution of the conjugal society. The disputes after the separation, in the majority of the cases, are associated with the scarcity of resources and the quality of the relationships between the ex-spouses. Referring to the quality of life, it was observed that the elimination of some conflicts due to the separation, propitiated a better quality of life, improving the social relations of the couple, noticing some changes on the subjective feeling in the relations, either with friends, familiar, or others; and, also the subjective feelings of personal growth going through the separation (being). The scarcity of resources, or budget insufficiency, was a considerable factor related to the increase of new legal disputes, with the purpose of reaching an improvement on the quality of life. Another relevant life domain that determinated the new legal disputes is related to the relationship, mainly about the legal action that converts the legal separation into divorce, aiming to the enlargement of freedom and new affective relations. It is possible to conclude that exists incongruence on the position of the State when it establishes "causes" for the end of the marriage. Hence, in the context of the individualism, the relationship is only kept while it is pleasant and useful for the spouses; and, that is why it is necessary the legal intervention that assist the couples to deal with the conflicts inherent to their relations, providing elements that preserve the conjugality and, in consequence, a better quality of life. Thus, it is recognized the necessity of the State intervention in avoiding the consuming and the rupture of the relationship; what would bring advantages for the State, the society and the familiar union.
