The World Health Organization (OMS), as well as scientist of the whole world, had been demonstrating concern with the subject of aging related to work and they recognize that modifications on several systems of the human body will lead to a gradual decrease on the effectiveness of each one of them, because the aging caused by the work, will anticipate the cycle of the man's life, not respecting the natural state of those cycles. In this way, it was aimed with this research investigate the relative aspects of the work capacity and health of the employees' of private laundries, to verify if these employees presents signs of precocious functional aging. Observation was made with none-participation on both laundries and a semi-structured interview with all employees, as well with the human resources managers of the studied laundries; Analysis of the medical certificates presented by employees at the laundries in the period of June to August of 2007 and of November 2007 to January of 2008, besides measurements of the noise levels and temperature. It was verified that, as for the employees' profile of the two laundries, larger participation of women exists in the section. In relation to the marital status and to the income, it was discovered that the number of bachelors and married it is practically the same and the great majority possesses income monthly relative of even R$500.00. As for the education, most possesses between 08 and 12 years of study, age between 18 and 30 years and they have from 01 to 04 years of work in the studied laundries. Concerning the absenteeism was possible identify at the two laundries, that this is impelled by the breathing and muscleskeletal diseases. Still concerns absenteeism it was contacted that employees of the laundry "A" has frequency of four removals in the period of study and danger of 5.9 lost days per employees. Besides that, the proportion of lost time was 2.9%. On the laundry B, was possible to discover the frequency of 0.73 per employee, danger of 7.53 of lost days per employee and proportion of lost time equivalent to 9.77%. Concerning the employee way of life, it was contacted they were resistance to practices of physical activity, besides, many employees make frequent use of alcoholic drink and also of tobacco. Was found on the laundries, high levels of noise and temperature, besides employee s exhibition on physical, chemical, psychological, biological and ergonomic risk. What has lead to several disease and fatigue? In that way, was possible to conclude that process of functional aging is result of multiples factors, which mostly of them is the labor atmosphere, because it has to deal with physical consume and levels of stress demanded for the work style. Conclude, that valuation has made necessary on the laundries, to verify the agents that lead to disease and labor problems. They contribute to accelerate the precocious aging process.
