Resumo: Currently there is a preoccupation about the practices of consumption and is getting bigger the interest in relation to environmental issues; many organs, institutions and researchers develop work concerned with the environment worldwide. One of the natural resources that this concern is target of environmentalists and governments is the water. Element essential to human life, water is used in abundance by many of the companies. It is a natural resource of economic, strategic and social value and it is essential to the existence and welfare of mankind and to the maintenance of ecosystems on the planet. On that way, this research is important to build an instrument for identifying the design of children on the water as a natural resource based on the clinical method piagetiano. The questions that guided the study were: What kind of instrument identifies the construction of social knowledge about natural resources in order to allow us to work the education for the consumption and environmental education to children of kindergarten? What is the conception of children from 4 to 6 years of age on water as a resource environment? As theoretical reference, it was used the theory piagetiana, focusing on the process of building the knowledge, development and learning and knowledge society. And as reasoning is also highlighted education for consumption, environmental education and clinical method piagetiano. Clinical interviews were conducted at Laboratório de Desenvolvimento Humano (LDH) of the UFV, with two groups of children from 4 to 6 years of age. In the analysis of the data we can see the conception of these children on the rise, the use, the destination and use of water as a natural resource, using categories of analysis established in accordance with studies of Piaget. According to the results were found three levels of understanding of the subject studied and in the construction of these representations children are not limited to just reproduce the information they receive about the environment, but they re-draw up it, with their particular understanding about the social world. A tool for identifying the design of children on the water as a natural resource was built during the search, providing a roadmap of material and concrete interview, made of chips of pictures that bring children to situations and problem-situations on the issue of water. The work helped to show the importance of knowing what children think about the issue so that the institutions of early childhood education and other school levels developed significant work in that regard, considering many possibilities of understanding of each child, depending on their age and their mind.

Vários órgãos, instituições e pesquisadores desenvolvem trabalhos com enfoque nos problemas ambientais mundiais. Um dos recursos naturais alvo de preocupação dos ambientalistas e dos governantes é a água. Elemento fundamental para a vida humana, a água é utilizada em abundância por toda a humanidade. É um recurso natural de valor econômico, estratégico e social, além de ser essencial para a existência e bem-estar do homem e para a manutenção dos ecossistemas do planeta. A pesquisa teve como objetivo construir um instrumento para identificar a concepção de crianças sobre a água, enquanto recurso natural, utilizando o método clínico piagetiano. As questões que nortearam o trabalho foram: Que tipo de instrumento permite identificar a construção do conhecimento social sobre recursos naturais de forma a possibilitar trabalhar a educação para o consumo e a educação ambiental com crianças da educação infantil? Qual a concepção de crianças de 4 a 6 anos de idade sobre a água enquanto recurso ambiental? Como referencial teórico, utilizou-se a teoria piagetiana enfocando o processo de construção do conhecimento, o desenvolvimento e aprendizagem e o conhecimento social. Destacou-se também a educação para o consumo, a educação ambiental e o método clínico piagetiano. Foram realizadas entrevistas clínicas no Laboratório de Desenvolvimento Humano (LDH) da UFV, com dois grupos de crianças de 4 a 6 anos de idade. Na coleta dos dados, destacaram-se a concepção dessas crianças sobre a origem, o uso/utilização, o destino e o consumo da água enquanto um recurso natural, utilizando categorias de análise estabelecidas de acordo com estudos de Piaget. De acordo com os resultados, foram encontrados três níveis de compreensão sobre o tema estudado, e na construção dessas representações as crianças não se limitaram somente em reproduzir as informações que recebem do ambiente que as cerca, mas as reelaboraram, dentro da sua compreensão particular do mundo social. Um instrumento para identificar a concepção das crianças sobre a água enquanto recurso natural foi construído no decorrer da pesquisa, constituindo- se de um roteiro de entrevista e material concreto, composto de fichas de figuras que levam às crianças situações e situações-problema sobre a questão da água.
