With the growth of agricultural areas and increased use of machines to perform cultivation, raises concern about the problems related to soil compaction. Therefore this study aimed to evaluate soil compaction in deployment of culture of Coffea arabica in the Alto Parnaíba-MG region. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, using a splitplot arrangement, with two treatments: subsoiling in the projection of the tractor wheels after implantation of the coffee and control without subsoiling after implantation of coffee. Were subdivided into, line of coffee, projection of wheeled tractor, and the line between the coffee. Were evaluated soil bulk density, soil penetration resistance and soil moisture at depths, from 0 to 0,1; 0,1 to 0,2; 0,2 to 0,3; 0,3 to 0,4; 0,4 to 0,5; 0,5 to 0,6 meters. Soil penetration resistance evaluated with a two penetrometers the impact and digital The soil of an area of bushland savannah adjacent to the experiment also was avaliada with the aim of comparing conservation acreage. It can be seen that there is an increase of the mechanical resistance to penetration, depending on the traffic of agricultural equipment in the projection of the tractor wheels. The layer showed higher mechanical resistance to penetration was from 0.1 to 0.3 m depth the projection of the rotated tractor. The impact penetrometer values were superior to evaluate the mechanical resistance to penetration in relation to digital penetrometer.
